What does it mean.. and why do we all not exerience the "light"? I had a friend who had a near death experience.. she is a good person.. she didn't see the light. Does the pearly gates of heaven, mean those who have done good deeds are about to see god .??

It's just the brain shutting down and how it is preceived by the person it is happening to.

That, and possibly a bright emergency room ceiling light.

Some have said that "Seeing the Light" is also "Crossing Over" to Heaven. When a person has died or a near death experience they seem to notice a "Bright light" which they think is the path to Heaven. They see their loved ones in the Light. Now I don't know if this is considered a near death experience or not but several years ago I needed emergency back surgery. I was told that I almost died on one occassion while I was in the ICU. I remember hearing the heart monitor beeping real fast and it seemed as if I couldn't move physically. I looked around my room and saw a woman in all white like a glowing aura of white. I couldn't see her face but it was a peaceful, she wore what I would call a nun's long robe type outfit. Later in the week when they moved me to another rm I had asked a nun if there was another nun that wore a white long type outfit or gown and she told me "no". I then told her what I had experienced and she too thought it might have been the "Holy Mary" or maybe someone else like an "angel". She gave me some tapes to listen too regarding "The Light" and what some believe in. Doctors believe that it has something to do with our brains when we come close to death,I'm not sure to what extent of our brain cells or brain waves but I believe that there is a "light" to show us the way to "Heavens Gate" and if we are good or have asked God to forgive our sins then we are allowed to walk into the "light" to be with Our Father in Heaven.

Hello, the light is described as 'unbelievably bright you you can still look into it. I tis brighter than the sun but does not hurt your eyes.

The most importang thing to remember is this light gives you a feeling of extreme, love, forgiveness and belonging. how can an ordinary light give you this. It is the light of God which is pure love that you are seeing / receiving.

Anybody who has had a NDE have all come back to say that the intense love they felt from the light was so powerful and beautiful that they did not want to go back. Some say they are nearly bursting with so much love that it is nearly unbearable.

There is nothing in this life time that you or I, or anybody could experience to any degree or measurement that can compare to the beautiful, peaceful and powerful love that you receive at your death. Nothing !!

Death is wonderful

Sometimes a near death experience is a reminder to not take life for granted. And there are some days where we do. And personally, I think "light" is a crossing over stage. (Now you said she is a good person, yes? And she saw no light. So maybe it wasn't her time?) As far as the "Pearly Gates of Heaven," Some traditions have it you go inbetween, not straight to your destination, be it Heaven or hell. A limbo or "Hades" so to speak, until the time of Judgement. (Not everybody agrees to this, though) Most common christians believe you go straight to, well, wherever your going.

It can be explained without religious significance. This "light" that some people see can be explained as a function of the brain as it powers down for a time during an NDE. It's not known whether this is a real-time event or whether people instantly remember seeing a light upon awakening. Some people can see this kind of light while they're still awake because of a brain malfunction.

Perhaps the experience of seeing the light only occurs if there is a pivotal choice between living and dying. Perhaps your friend may never have been really going to die and thus didn't need to have the option of going with the light or going back to the body. Perhaps her near death experience was taking her close to the edge but she was always destined to come back.

Well i think its about letting man know there is a higher power in control that its not all about us. About the criterion of judgement of who enters there are all sorts of versions but i really think at the end God will decide who enters and who doesnt then again i hear not all see the light some have said they first saw the light then saw themselves going to hell so one cant pinpoint ive listened to lots of nde s but cant quite get it

When we are born we can't see, but do feel. after a few weeks . We start to see the light. And at the time of we miss the light that we are use too. I tell this from my heart. Only God knows. And if so we will know when its our time to go.

People that believe go toward the light, and non-believers or lost. Maybe. I can't swear to that; it's only my believe.
