A strong point. A counter point. A final question on how you feel?

Something must've come from nothing, but how can nothing turn into something without something first existing? But how can anything just exist without first being formed into existence? Could it be that nothing is something, but if that is the case how could nothing always exist if something cannot always exist? What is nothing exactly? How did nothing come into existence? Is nothing considered to be existence? Can nothing really exist? How can nothing really be if it is considered not to exist? How can nothing exist it is nothing? If it does exist it means that nothing is really something, and that something always existed, but how can something just exist? How can something exist when there is nothing?
I have just read the first 2 chapters of Sophie's world and just had to put my thoughts on paper and wanted to know what others may think about them am I doing good for a beginner of philosophy? Is there even a such thing as doing good in philosophy?

One would be my family even though they can be a real pain in the *** sometimes, Second would be my beloved boyfriend and third I think would be music I need to get down every now and then.

Like you just want to cease existing because things seem so hopeless? I don't mean commit suicide, I mean feeling like you're running in endless circles? Going down the same narrow paths over and over again until you hit the same dead end? I wish I could just skip the entire woods analogy and just find myself an airplane, better yet I could learn to fly.

all creatures great and small are only living to survive just as us humans are, so why are their lives not valued as much as ours?

My cousin's husband died yesterday. He had suffered a massive stroke years ago,was a paraplegic, could only smile with his eyes, and yet kept his sense of humor, via a computer voice system, through which he would tell the funniest jokes. He was -and is-quite an inspiration to me when I am down, like today.

It's a question I should be asking in therapy, but I'm not there and I want to know, seriously. Why do you want to live? What drives you to be alive? It's a simple question that I can't answer myself. I am not asking for suggestions though. I just want to know why YOU want to live.

If you know it is wrong, but you do it anyway, and then you don't feel bad about it, does that make it OK to do it?

Why wouldn't it bother you?

I realize this needs A LOT of editing, but what do you think so far? Does it have a good message?

Typical question.....That pertains to anyone of any age. When you're 12 you might wonder, "What's highschool gonna be like?", when you're 15 you might wonder, "Where does my future lie, what's my career going to be, what college will I attend?", when you're 22 you might wonder, "Wow, so this is life after college...The REAL world.. What will I make of it? Will I succeed?",

27: "I've got a career...But am I really happy with it?"

29: "Oh God, I'm almost 30.....What's become of me?"

37: "Only a few years until...Soon, I will be heading into 'middle-aged'.... Sigh...Have I done everything I wanted to do before I turn 40?"

46: "I must learn to appreciate things for what they are... Will I be able to? I'm aging quickly...Is it truly inner beauty that matters?"

54: "Retirement is just around the corner...Do I have everything I need to continue living a comfortable life?"

67: "Those youngins and their fast ways...Need to learn to accept things and stop with all that high-tech nonsense.... My life, have I made my mark? Will I be remembered?"

79: "I'm blessed to have lived to this age... My family, my friends, I love them... But, being so worn and tired, what will they want with me now?"

88: "I see the light.... Am I forgiven? Will Christ take me into his Glorious Kingdom?"

So tell the 12 year old everything will sort itself out. Highschool can be great, but is also filled with temptations.. As they say, "Live Above The Influence" Not only the influence of drugs and of sex, but above the influence of letting someone control you, above the influence of doing "what's cool" just because you can, etc...

Tell the 15 year old their whole life is ahead of them... Tell them you support their choices.. Help them, support them, but don't make major decisions for them..Be beside them, set an example, this is the age they need it most...Even though they go through their stages of emotions and rebellion and acceptance, etc....Know it will pass and remember what it was like when you were their age.

Tell the 22 year old to get involved, make friends, be themselves. Tell them to chose a path in life they love, not one others have set out for them.

The the 27 year old to take a good look at themselves and to reflect upon their life.

Tell the 29 year old 30 is a "bench-mark in society", but they shouldn't think this is the end of things. Tell them one day when they're 50 they'll look back and wonder why they were so oblivious and how much wiser they are now then they were at 30.

Tell the 37 year old, if they need to do something crazy, then do it, just so long as you're not putting your life in danger...Tell them time will pass, and one day, hopefully they'll be able to say, "Well, all right then. I am 47, I might look 57, feel 77 somedays, but my heart and my mind tell me I'm 20 again. I love my age and I'm happy with it."

Tell the 45 year old what you told the one who is 37.... ;)

Tell the 54 year old that yes, they should make sure things are in order, but not to become overwhelmed or overtaken by it. Life's too short to live worrying about material posessions.

Tell the 67 year old, if you have loved and been loved, then you will be remembered. No life is a mistake or a waste, but some are more meaningful then others.

Tell the 79 year old you want to hear about them. Ask them to tell you stories of their life. Tell them how much you care and wish you could've been around during "their time".

As for the one who is near death...Pray for them...Pray that they will be delivered into God's hands...

up hundreds of noted and brilliant men (the selfsame ones who they love to quote and marvel at) in fields of thought, from biologists, scientists, inventors, philosophers, mathematecians and theoretical physicists and have them in turn look at each atheist and say "you idiot, whatever made you think i discount intelligent design, and dont you dare quote me to support your little argument!" ?

and would you personally find it equally hilarious if the apostle paul himself were to bitchslap selfproclaimed christians who give little thought and say "idiot, ill tell you like i told the corinthians, if you blindly believe, your belief is worthless, if god wanted mindless servants dont you think he could have created them?" i would, that would be HILARIOUS, whaddya think?

Isn't it insane how we go crazy for one another when we're in love.

We do these crazy things ask all these questions about the one we love.

What are your thoughts on love?

Do you believe the power of love is more powerful than anything else out there?

I think we all understand that you can have too much of a good thing. Too much bravery becomes recklessness, being too accomidating makes one a doormat, too much honesty makes one tactless, etc. But wisdom is slightly different, because it is not so much a single attribute, as it is the proper proportion of many attributes. It seems to be the very stuff of knowing how to live and interact, and so based on that, can a person have too much of it? Can a person be so wise that s/he becomes dysfunctional?
