It's a question I should be asking in therapy, but I'm not there and I want to know, seriously. Why do you want to live? What drives you to be alive? It's a simple question that I can't answer myself. I am not asking for suggestions though. I just want to know why YOU want to live.

There have been a lot of times I didn't want to live.

To me, the point is, I am here and whether I want to accept it or not, I am here for a reason.

So I want to make the best of it.

I don't think I am here solely for myself. I think I am here also, for everybody I have ever known, know now and will know.

We are all interconnected and need each other.

There is much to learn and be facinated by and when I take a thorough and genuine inventory of my desires, interests and passions which ironically have nothing to do with other people, I find so much to learn and live for.

There are so many people that would lose a part of the bigger meaning if I weren't here. I'm needed and I like knowing that especially without needing to hear people say it. I have a lot to learn and I feel challenged by that. I want to overcome all my obstacles and I feel desire and life in that. It makes me happy and I want to make other people happy.

What drives me to be alive? The same thing that drives any other person who wishes to be alive: something they like.

That can be anything. It can be an object (money) or a person (significant other) or a hobby (skating!) or a lifestyle you have grown to love (rock climbing!). Or just about any other thing, as long as it registers as strongly positive in that person's brain. But since you seem so inclined to know what I personally live for, here it is:

As far as objects go, I like rock. Or perhaps a rock face or amountain is simply a precursor to a strong hobby or lifestyle. I live to feel the rock on my hands, and to know that I can scale whatever wall or tackle whatever boulder I can run into. Climbing however, is more like the epicenter of why I live. From that point spew many other things, mostly outdoor-based. Hiking, mountaineering, exploring, etc.

The gear that I use in all those out door things helps fuel my mental stimuli. I like to understand how it works (my life depends upon it). This brings me to another reason I live: I like to see how ALL things work. I wouldn't mind being an engineer or research doctor.

Why a research doctor? Because I find cures for diseases. Almost every person I love (another reason I live, since they make me happy) has a disease. To cure that would make them happy and me happy, and then make them more happy, and me more happy. ANd then EVERYONE would be cured. That would make them happy, and me MORE happy.

Do you get the picture? In short, one small but strong and powerfully positive object or hobby, provides a catalyst for an entire positive lifestyle and LIFE to follow. Even in the face of negatives, the positives are always there. They brought you into your existance and defined you, and will shield and defend you against the negative.

Hopefully, that quick little rant makes some sense, and helps you out.

Thing of life as a big adventure movie with you as star player. You have no idea how it will turn out, the twists and turns along the way. Every encounter, every trip, every lesson learned is a step along the path. I know it sounds cliche and trivial, but I want to live, crave to live just so I can experience more, explore more, meet more and more people, get new insights, better myself, grow, make children and experience that path too. It is good to be alive and there are so many things out there to see and feel and take part in, it's a movie...

Oh, also for the occasional great sex :)

stay alive!

a few reasons

1) Death Sucks
2) What else is there To do?
3)There is no Number 3
4) Love. As long as there is that, how can you think of anything else
5) I'm addicted to Oxygen, It's a Thing with me.
6) Happiness and Contentment. If you can Find It That, you Don't Think about Whether you want to live or not. Reminds me of a Quote ... "The best morale exist when you never hear the word
mentioned. When you hear a lot of talk about it,
it's usually lousy." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

Enjoy, And Happy New Year

No offense but Yahoo Q & A is as theraputic, often, as any $200 per hour session on an uncomfortable faux leather chaise.

Again, with no offense, I prefer "IT" to any alternatives. I already have full awareness that I'm not immortal, not 10 ft. tall and bullet proof, so what is there that I can't get through,,,AS LONG AS I DO LIVE?

I have an aversion to being buried under 6 plus feet of cold dirt for one thing,,,and/or burning to ashes, (although that's my choice), AFTER I do DIE.

I understand the benefits that "Worms" offer, but I don't wanna be their food source. At least not yet.

Now on a serious note, even in deep depressions, but with a cognizant mind, One should follow this. A quote of mine.

"The Journey, CAN BE as fullfilling as any destination."

Life is nothing more than the blink of an eye in comparison to eternity, which is where we're all heading. I like to think of my time on earth as "boot camp" for the afterlife. I think that whatever I don't learn here on earth that I was supposed to learn will either begin as a lesson to repeat in the afterlife or something I will at least regret not learning when I arrive in the afterlife. Each day is a gift from God to learn what He sent us here to learn (can't say I know exactly what that is just yet) and to not live life to it's fullest and to strive to be what we were meant to be is a waste of His gift. There's so much to learn, so much to do and therefore so much more to live for! I also remember that if I don't like my current circumstances they CAN be altered. Nothing is so permanent that it can't be changed a bit even if it takes extreme effort.

It's simple. I want to live because I enjoy it. I love hearing my kids laugh. I love photography. I love going out with my friends and their kids and letting the runts run around like maniacs. I love seeing the future appear before my eyes.

And also because I know death will come sooner than I'll want it to.

This is an excellent question; I'm living this life to prove to God that I can make the right decisions, that I am determined not to be here again in this hell called earth. I want to live for my husband; without me he can't function - he needs my warmth, my love - ME! I can't live without him either; our sentiments are the same for each other.

You are born is a fact and not under your control. You don't have a choice but to live. Now you can decide how best to make out of the living. and then what is best.

Hence you make your living meaningful and also of those around you.

Wow...I've never really asked myself that...and I can't really think of a truthful answer...but I can think of REASONS to live...and they are 1. to inspire either yourself...or others 2. to achieve something that you thought you'd never accomplish or something that means a lot to you or your loved ones 3. God has a reason for you...and although you may not know it...just go with the flow because God will Never steer you wrong....if you do Not believe in God...I'm sorry to impose my beliefs onto you..I'm just sharing what I know/believe
