Reality is a dream because, if you think about it, reality is thought of as sort of the 'norm' or whatever. If someone is talking about another person who is a little out of wack they might mention that they need to come back to reality. The truth of this matter is however, that reality doesn't exist. Reality is only what you percieve it is, and therefore, reality is a dream.

I'm currently reading a fascinating book called The Seth Material by Jane Roberts.

She is a medium through which the entity called Seth spoke through her of the true nature of reality.

I am just reading the chapter on dreams in which the theory is that both the dream state and the waking state are both different levels of reality. In the dream state we often work out psychological difficulties that are hard to work out in waking reality. That's why dreams often seem so bizarre. And yet, they are no less real than the waking state.

As I said, it's fascinating stuff and a really interesting read.

Both are the same thing and here is why. When you are dreaming sometimes you know you're dreaming because in the middle of the dream you can litteraly tell yourself you're dreaming so you try to come back to reality. So dreams are not reality, and so according to your question reality all in all has to be a big dream. This can also explain why we try to find our origin maybe we're just trying to wake ourselves up from this big dream.

It depends on your perspective and thought process. Dreams may become reality, sure, but... it's one of those "not always" type of things. The latter is really the subjective one. There are people who believe that reality may just be a big dream, and then there are those who believe wholly in logic who say, "Reality is reality. Dreams are separate."

I personally entertain the possibility that reality is just an enormous dream/nightmare and that we are all just subjects deep in comas around the world, laying on lab tables with a bunch of creatures and/or doctors poking, prodding, and examining us. Maybe... we, the ones in the coma, are merely sharing and "living" in a big dream called "reality."

Reality is reality, dreams are dreams. Dreams occur only while we sleep and reality occurs all the time. You can tell the difference. When you wake up and realize That Snuffalufagus Isn't trying to steal your lambhorghini, It's a dream. When you look out your window and Realize you don't have a Lambhorghini and The neighbor's dog is Pissing on your bushes again, That's reality. Hope That clears Things Up.

Enjoy, And Happy New Year

I agree with many here that it is both.....

My reasoning is because without what we know to be true, which resides by experience, then there would be no dreams....

I quote the great teacher, Ecclestiastes who once wrote: "Dreams are come through a multitude of business".... which simply mean that men dream because of their experience in life.....

But, it is also written that when our soul dies, thoughts perish.... In other words, when we live no more to experience life, we have no thoughts and can dream no more forever........

So, if experience causes dreams to exist, there must be some form of reality......

Also, the reality in dreams can cause one to wake shaking, screaming, crying, laughing, and to some, speaking foreign languages, and walking in diverse places....... Whatever the script by which a dream is come, it is based on reality.......

Please allow me give you a real life example.

I bet every Iraqi is dreaming of a quiet day free of gunfire and death - but it has not turned into reality.

Every Iraqi lives in a dreadful horrific reality; it is not a dream but a nightmare!

Therefore, Dreams are NOT reality, and Reality is NOT a dream. :)

Depends. Which reality are we referring to here? Yours or mine?

Dreams, I suppose, are as much a part of reality as my toe, or your toe... severed from the ordinary... things are still things... and, as obscure as I can possibly afford to be: we know as much about dreams as we do about reality... __________________.
