is it bad to use your head too much?

I use to be a bit of an intellectual but both my parents encouraged me not to think so much and to let go.

Now I think they were right ?? what do others think?

What are the consequences of letting your "head" dominate?

and after a short delay, that name will crop up in my head. I somehow know that it was what i was 'searching' for, and I know that it is a correct memory. What is happening here? Do you have a good, accurate explanation?

i am a kind of girl who value education highly and i think that education is 1 thing people in whole around the world must have in life.

my friend said no to my thinking and said that education is not a big deal as long as you have luck, beauty, and the capability of making money.

she said we lived to enjoy, so just dont bother about education, find a perfect man (which is in her mind is a RICH man), shop a lot, live like you have million dollars, and enjoy the life.

now i find it that people with high education dont always get enough money in their lives compared to those who are lucky, like actors, actresses, and so on..
my questions are :

what is actually the most essential thing about education?
is it more paramount than money?
if it is, why?
if it is not, why?

I was asked what my favourite quote was. I didn't have one so I made up my own. What do you think?
"Tomorrows journey will be easier if yesterdays baggage is left behind."

D'you think it's better to-
a) Work really hard when you're in school to achieve the best possible grades and ultimately a fantastic job, but at the cost of a social life, which you could then relax and enjoy when you're older with a good job
OR
b)relax and enjoy yourself when you're young and don't have to worry about anything, working harder when you're older but at the cost of your social life?

With increasing advances in computers there may come a time when they are so advanced we cannot differentiate between one of them and a real person in conversation.

In the film Short Circuit the 'final' test for the robot to be alive is said to be humor.

Or there is the Turing test in real life for those who know what that is.

But what would your personal criteria be for deciding that an artifical intelligence was actually alive.

Hypothetically speaking, you got a monkey that is supposed to randomly type for the rest of eternity. He's got an endless supply of paper, endless supply of ink, etc....everything he needs to type for eternity. When it's time to start typing, the monkey takes the typewriter and smashes it to pieces. Furthermore, his intention is to never type anything. Will this monkey ever type the book, War and Peace ? Oh yeah, the type writer won't be replaced either.
