How about applying oneself in school to LEARN as much as possible about a variety of subjects while pursuing an education in a field of interest. One of Leonard Woolf's memoirs was "Journey not the Arrival Matters" because we benefit by what we experience and possibly learn while on route to...wherever. One must strive for balance so as not to miss out on valuable lessons and opportunities

OR
c) work hard in school but have a social life while doing it having good grades not the best possible. doesnt affect your social life and plenty of time relaxing. still get a good job that doesnt screw your social life but instead makes it better. when u turn 50 or something you dont need a job because you have everything like plenty of freinds, money , good social life, and knowing you enjoyed life to its finest when u were younger. REMEMBER. YOU MUST EARN WHAT YOU GET. SCREW UP WHEN YOUR YOUNG YOU SCREW UP YOUR WHOLE LIFE. DONT BE A SLAVE TO WORKING ALL THE TIME BUT DONT BE A LAZY ***. DO WORK AND RELAXATION AT YOUNG AGE SO WHEN OLDER ITS NO WORK AND ALL RELAXATION.

Don't like the work in school? No matter how you justify it, hard work in school will pay off. Judging from the social life of many students — drugs, binge drinking, gangs, violence, STDs — you're better off enjoying a clearer look at it when you get older and have a better life. If you slack off now, you'll get stuck in a dead zone, from which there is almost no way out. Stay in school and work hard. You'll thank yourself later on.

Why not both? I go to a private school that is much harder than other regular school and i somehow manage to get good grades and have a social life. School is not that hard. The standards are very lax nowadays. This is all under the asumption that by social life you dont mean hard drugs like heroin.

Work is social life if you work against your negative side of your nature. It is the only way to relax from anxieties over the future. Work helps to relieve stress, meet people, build a sense of self worth and social contribution. Some existentialists would say that your choices make you what you are to become. Become positive through positive work choices.

Well the best possible answer is C a combination between the two. But since it is an A or B question I think I will go with A.

I usually get A's in school and I can tell you now that I don't have to give up my social life to get them. I just hang out with different friends than the 'popular' ones who always get in trouble.

It's better to work at your own pace. Work should be an end in itself. If you get no satisfaction from your work, you can always become a drug dealer. This will work wonders for your social life.
