Yes, hobbies can be very beneficial. Your mother is just reacting as she did because she is truly concerned for your well-being. She probably feels hurt because I would bet she has talked to you about smoking. Is there anything you like to do? Like writing, painting, or music? When I was in my teens I had the same problem with not finishing what I start. That is not so unusual. Try a small project. Maybe buy a kit of some kind at the store. Wal-Mart has a number if jewelry making kits that you might find interesting. If you got one of them maybe you could prove to yourself (and your mother) that you CAN finish something you start! The kits are not very expensive. And who knows, once you get a kit & find you like making things, you can get the individual pieces on your own and even sell the things you make at school, maybe make a little money! There are some really cool friendship bracelet kits out there. But give up the ciggys!

Your mom said those things because she feels awful about you smoking. Probably feels like she failed as a parent, and in part she did. And in order for her to feel better, she is just lashing out at you. How would you feel if you put alot of time and energy into something, just to have it all thrown back in your face? It doesn't feel very good, and you just give up (at least in the beginning). Hopefully your mom won't give up on you, and will start yelling and bitchin at you to stop smoking, or grounding you, or taking away your income source, or make it hard for you to smoke and you'll have to do it outside all the time, and start being a parent again.

You have intelligence and talent.otherwise you would have never framed the question. Only problem is you have not found your area where you will be a success. So long as you don't earn for your self quit smoking .This is because you do not have the right to burn out the hard earned money of your parents.
What subject are you good at? it need not be academic. if you can sew well learn tailoring .If you are good at sketching learn graphic designing. like this analyse your talent and find a niche for yourself.I am sure you will be great one day.

Yes, because they give you other things to do besides drugs. There are almost an infinite number of hobbies in the world so you really can't say that there just isn't a hobbie for you. If you need someone to talk to just go and meet with your school guidance counselor. May God be with you.

You are none of these things everyone will have a go at smoking or doing something that they are not suppose to do it is called growing up, But as for smoking i would not recommend it. I have smoked and i tell you it is very hard to give up and my husband is very sick because he smoked and has trouble breathing. I can see why your Mum went mad at you but don't ever think that you are know good. Because that is not true.
May the Peace, Joy and Love of Jesus fill you and your families heart for Christmas and all thought the coming year and May he bless you all

please dont smoke.
You CAN hurt yourself that way.
your mom probably has a skrewed view of the world. You didnt give me a backgouund, is she a former smoker? Depressed? failed in life? Working minimum wage and telling you stories of how she messed up in life?
doing drugs and smoking can and will make you worthless to YOURSELF because most people fool themselves into thinking they can handle whatever happens.
fact is,
when your get hooked you do become mediocre, you feel worthless and begin to fail in life.
I really wish you had given me some more details. I think it was VERY harsh of her to say those things to you. I believe you should seek some sort of help, if your smoking this cannot be good, and dont let anyone fool you into thinking this. Thats its okay, your be fine, bullsh!t like that.
dont get a hobby, get a purpose. A motivation. DO something you care about. Anyone can get a hobby but hobbies dont save people. Only a purpose and a passion.

Don't think of it as a hobby - just find some safe and interesting things that you like to do. Keep exploring until you find a few interesting activities. Then try to take them a bit deeper. If you decide that you like crossword puzzles, you can try to get better at them, or to create your own. If you like photography, you can try to get better at it, etc. This is important for a full and interesting life. If you find some activities that you REALLY enjoy, consider how you might turn them into a career.

My mother said the same types of things to me when I was a teenager. It was very devastating and has impacted the rest of my life, though I try hard to deal with it, I still hear her telling me what a looser I am.
I am so sorry for you. With a mother like that you don't need enemies. Don't listen to people who blame you, you are a kid, this is all on her. I tried hard to please my mother and was never good enough and the pain led me to smoking and other self defeating behaviors. I wish I had some healing advice for you. All I can say, is no matter what, no kid deserves a mother like that.

i think of it somewhat is just one thing meat eaters say to make themselves sense extra beneficial. there's no information that that's real. The 60s television prepare "lost In area" had an episode noted as "the great Vegetable riot" the place there replaced right into a planet wherein fruit screamed once you pulled it of the tree. there replaced right into a guy wearing a carrot gown who replaced into attempting to get revenge against the Earth people. there replaced right into a guy's face protruding of the carrot--it replaced into enormously goofy--like a sort of speaking timber from the "Wizard Of oz.."
