the thought of one day not existing?

Seriously.

The word, "religion", is not the kind of answer I'm looking for. I don't want to know how humans have coped with this idea. I want to know how you cope with this idea. Or, if you even actually believe that one day you cease to exist?

Does anyone else find this thought utterly unbearable?

As a method of removing the excess dead why can we not eat them. We arent hunting them we are just becoming efficient and far from barbaric.

It has been an enduring topic of interest for scientists, artists, and theologians. Psychologists have proposed several models of the processes underlying jealousy and have identified individual differences that influence the expression of jealousy. Sociologists have demonstrated that cultural beliefs and values play an important role in determining what triggers jealousy and what constitutes socially acceptable expressions of jealousy. Biologists have identified factors that may unconsciously influence the expression of jealousy. Artists have explored the theme of jealousy in photographs, paintings, movies, songs, plays, poems, and books. Theologians have offered religious views of jealousy based on the scriptures of their respective faiths. Despite its familiarity, however, people define jealousy in different ways.

Is it only from man-made laws (which are as fallible as we are) or by votes (popularity contests) which might be skewed, or is there some supernatural source, or is there just plain no such thing as right and wrong and we're only fooling ourselves to think so...?

As the Marquis de Sade said, "Whatever IS, is right." (Of course, he's not what I like to think of as a sound moral guide.... )

And, as a corolary, how are materialists able to arrive at a concept of right and wrong (let alone identify individual acts as such...?)

If all we are is matter and energy, how can anything that we do be wrong?

rather than a mosquito or a snake or some other species. I was thinking this myself the other day when I was getting bitten by mossies on holiday. Quite often life can be s*** but it's weird that we are what we are.. and they were born what they were born.... luck of the draw maybe??

Have you ever seen anyone on yahoo answers call someone (famous) evil? I was reprimanded on Yahoo! for saying a certain celebrity was evil. They claim the statement falls into the catagory of Epithets & Slurs just because I simply said that the high profile figure was evil. Has anyone else been scolded for calling someone evil in their answers? Is this right in your opinion?
