can someone elaborate on these facts about positivism? maybe tell me what some implications of these things are?
1), no theory can be formed without being based upon significant observable evidence. But just the same no useful information can be surmised if there is no theory to provide some guidance.
2)Logical Positivism claims that at any point in time either sensory perception or logical thought can be applied, never both
3)positivism seemed to calm nationalistic war sentiments after the first world war by standardizing knowledge.

Did the universe spring into existence because of the referential integrity of nothingness? Or am i just having a linguistic rather than conceptual brainfart? What I am asking is that: in order to have nothing, you need something. And vice versa. Are we living on the flipside of nothing!?

Saddam guilty ? Justice in the middle east ?

Well the decision handed down today, was that Saddam was found guilty of murdering some 120 innocent people, after an assasination attempt on his life in that area....? The court is suggesting a 'death penality'?

Well where are all the Christians in America, and the religious right that believes that 'thou shalt not kill" ?

Anyway, while we are on the subject of 'innocent people' being killed in the middle east, it is reported that some 200,000 to 400,000 innocent Iraqi's have been killed by the decision to invade that country because Saddam was suppose to have had 'weapons of mass destruction.

Is anyone going to be put on trial for the death of those hundreds of thousands of lives, not to mention the billions in destruction to property.

Imagine if they hang a person for killing a 120 people what the sentence should be for killing hundreds of thousands ?

Where is the real justice and compassion ?

I've heard that scientists once put a plant out into space and moved it at a really fast speed and it lived like 4 times longer than usual.

My brother said that we're living much longer nowadays because we're moving faster - think about it, we take cars, planes, and other much faster vehicles than they had, in say, the 1900's.

Could this be true? Thoughts?

if the year is 2020 and you go back in time to 2000 to kill yourself, then you would never have the chance to make it to 2020 to go back to 2000 and kill yourself. so you would still be alive. does is cause parelle universe or is the timeline preplaned? my theory is the timeline is playing like a cassette. everything is preplanned and time travel is possible, but no matter what you do in the past it will have the same outcome. this could be the theory that proves a God. please elborate and tell me your thoughts. please, intelligent answers only.

So. Imagine Hell. Bad people go there, right? Those people are tortured constantly, right? My question: are they all tortured equally? Are those who led lives to be more unjust than others tortured in more devestating of a manner? In the event that they are tortured equally does that make Hell the ideal place people seem to be striving for? You know, a place where everyone is treated in an equal and according manner? Tell me what you think about the politics of Hell and how they could be related to our world. If you don't believe in Hell then just try and imagine the Bush regime and you'll get the idea. Leave lots and lots of feedback. Thanks

An answer to the question of "what is the point of life?" was purpose. I have no purpose in my life but to live it day by day. I take what is presented to me (my reality) and live it .And I am happy with that. If I was to have the thought that I was suppose to have a purpose in my life, then I would have to live each day with that purpose in my mind and judge how I live with that purpose in mind. I would not like the pressure of that in my life. My day would be spent judging this action as oppose to that action based on that purpose. I wish to experience life the way it is given to me every morning, without purpose. Free will and freedom.

Please only answer if you have more to say than just 'good' or 'evil.' I am honestly interested in knowing why you think the way you do.

If Angels were made into matter, then they would no longer could or would be infinitely small. So then, how can you know just about how many Angels you could fit onto the tip of an average pin?

This is yet another question that has thwarted many philosophers dealing with the topic of the material world and the subject of infinity in relation to it, as well as spirits and beings in sub-dimensions and their effect and existence on our world.

Please answer as well as you can, because I havn't been able to find any good answers anywhere, even by some of our greater thinkers. Thanks in advance for all answers.

"I'd rather be ashes than dust.
I would rather my spirit go out in a burning flame
than that it be stifled with dry rot.
I would rather be a splendid meteor, streaking across the sky,
every atom in my being a magnificent glow,
than to be a sleepy and permanent planet.
For life is to be lived and not to just exist,
and I will not waste my precious, precious days
simply trying to prolong them.
I will use every moment of my time,
and I will live every day to the fullest."
