No, In my opinion, the best way to improve your life is to take a good long look in the mirror and ask your self....Am I doing everything I can do to be happy and fit into society? Am I liking the way my life is going? More so...Do I like who I am? if any of the answers are No... Changing your mind isn't the answer... making different choices and decisions in your life are the key options.

All of the answers so far do deal with the mind.

Letting God into your life: your mind deals with that (not the body)
Looking at yourself: to look and see yourself the mind processes what it sees into what is understood.
Changing your behavior: your mind tells your body what to do-to act on an emotion or not to.
Change your perception on life: only the mind can do this too.

Now, the mind is very seductively influenced by the ego. The ego has an image of what your life should be, and presents it to the mind. The mind can accept this judgement, or not. And this judgement isn't permanent, and can change at anytime in the blink of an eye: such as love at first sight or getting the rug pulled out from underneath you.

The only thing that I have any REAL control over is how I perceive the things around me. I can choose to cry or laugh. I can choose to be sad when things don't work out like I hoped, or I can decide that this gives me the opportunity to try something else or to find something better in what I was trying to leave behind. I can choose. And I choose to be content. I choose to find the happy bit of light in the darkness. I can - and do - change my mind to make my life a great place to be.

There are things that defy happiness or having a "good spin" put on them. These things I accept if I cannot change them or my perception of them. I am changing my mind by accepting instead of fighting. I am choosing how I will deal with it.

While we can make all kinds of outward changes in life, we must change our ideas first. We have to see our selves and our habits differently in order for a diet to work, to quit smoking or to leave a bad relationship.

No the best way to improve your life is to be open minded. Also to be a good listener. The more you listen the more you learn and the more open minded you are the more you learn and in that way you improve your life.

To change ones life is to acknowledge what needs to be changed. One cannot improve ones life if one does not acknowledge the deficiency. Without acknowledgment there can be no improvement. So in order to improve ones life, one has to improve self, by changing the way one thinks.
