rather than a mosquito or a snake or some other species. I was thinking this myself the other day when I was getting bitten by mossies on holiday. Quite often life can be s*** but it's weird that we are what we are.. and they were born what they were born.... luck of the draw maybe??

I visted this nature reserve whilst on holiday and saw these giant tortoises that walked at like half a mile an hour and I just thought how rubbish to have to carry that load on my back.. what if I had an itch...

I guess my point is that out of all of the animals/mammals/fish, etc that exist on this earth.. we were born human which is both weird and fascinating from my perspective...

yeah ive wondered that also.
If u think about it, you had something like a 1/6 chance of being Chinese as well. Where does "your" inner soul come from? Is it created right when your body is, or does it wander until it finds a birth (making the whole process even more luck of the draw). Im not a scientologist, but that sort of thing is what they believe in (as well as the fact that we all originated from the lord Xenu, who was an alien *lmfao*)
Also a good question to ask an atheist, because what do they think happens when some1 dies. Does their soul and emotion simply cease to be when their body dies? Or is it reincarnated (the Hindu belief).
All the worlds religeons have a different take on this subject, which just makes it all the more interesting. :)

Being human is great but we all have drives. I wonder if other species know the pain of not reaching what they want? Like me I wish I could fly like a bird and then be a human when I get to a city I would like to find more out about

Well it depends. Do you believe in the expression "ignorance is bliss"? Animals aren't as emotionally and psychologically, not least of all intellectually, advanced as we are. Therefore they don't experience psychological pain to the extent we do (depression, regret, remorse). Their lives are, however, fragile, short, and often brutal. I do, however, believe I was fortuitous to be a human living in the U.S. in the late 20th, early 21st century (certainly wouldn't be fortuitous being born to serve in WW2 to be mortared on the battlefield or being born in a poverty-disease stricken region of Africa). We have the unique experience of being able to reflect on our own existence. Now whether that is a good thing is up in the air...

Yes, I do. I mean, seriously, what would life be like if you were a baby turtle, or one of those animals that 99% of the population gets eaten within 24 hours of birth?

I had this thought ever since I was 14.. wanted to be a fly or a mosquito or anything with a lifespan shorter than a week.
human life is long, tormenting & pointless.

I sure am glad I wasn't born a muslim in the middle-east, and have to listen to all the fanatical LIES that the wackjob satanic clerics teach their kids on how to hate and kill everyone except themselves.

Heck, I figure we're lucky to be alive in the first place.
Life is terrible, yes, but it's got some heartbreakingly beautiful moments as well. In the end, we won't want to give up what we've got.
