yes, i have no expectations-no disappointment attitude.
The primary reason is that it works !
Especially in keeping me happy.
Since I love people or like them unselfishly I have no
"expectations" from them. So their actions whether favorable or
unfavorable WILL never give me any pains.
I simply keep "no expectation" attitude in mind while dealing with all people of the world (barring noone). Since I do not have any selfish desire to be met from them !
Thus it maintains my "happiness" always.
I do not crave for anything.
I just don't.
Thus I never actually get disappointed !
Thus it works in keeping me happy.
Another unconscious reason for me to keep "No expectations and No Disappointment" attitude is that
Lord Krishan has described this atttitude as desirable for a
"Karma Yogi" in Bhagvad Geeta.

Usually I do because of past experiences...where I would expect a certain thing to happen and I'm always disappointed in some way. Now, I don't let myself get excited or look forward to anything so that I can't be disappointed in the end because I didn't have any expectations going in to it.

No, I expect things just like everyone else--like respect. And people who demand respect expect it most of the time, unless its from someone they dont care about very much.
Depending on the situation, I think its good find the balance between expecting things and not expecting things. We can expect the sun to rise tomorrow morning. We can expect rodeo clowns to be rednecks. We can expect American CEOs to be white males 85% of the time. We expect such things because we use common sense from which we derive outcome probabilities.
But other things aren't easily predicted. For instance, I just went to a movie with a girl that I dont know very well. I dont expect we will get married and buy a timeshare in Lake Tahoe because we just met and know very little about one another. I really have no idea when i will see her again, but i do expect it could be in the near future. So, I dont expect what I want. Rather, I expect what is likely to occur. Maybe that's an important distinction to make, but I dont think its anything new.
I think problems with expectation begin when one desires an outcome before carefully negotiating its likelihood. Perhaps the more disappointing effects of expectation prevail when one is blind to everything else except one's desire.

Yes for no disappointment because that's just my personality. I expect a lot, and feel unsatisfied when something doesn't meet my expectations. Probably why there's so much stress...

I certainly have it. I have expected things in the past and have ALWAYS gotten hurt..It's a defense mechanism which prevents me from getting hurt again. I don't expect anything from anybody
