it seems to me that it must, because without it existing, there would be no distance between stars [suns] - its property is distance - empty space or a vacuum is not nonexistence, which by definition cannot exist, ie cannot have even the property of distance

This is not to show disrespect to religion, faith or God. As I believe we all are to some lesser or greater extent a part of the greater goodness and spirituality that is God. But that is my upbringing and experience we each have our own.
