albanco0, a A man dies leaving his physical body. but he is the life of the body and this "life" continues to live. if this isn't true what is to experience Heaven? what reincarnates is our sense of self seperate from God,it does this lifetime after lifetime until one learns "God dwells within you as you" then you "die" to the sense of self separate from God,merging in spirit with God. this is the "once to die"..

Because that means our souls are not going to heaven - just reliving our lives over and over again - even if we dont remember them. Religion has to have hope and a reason to live (not kill ourselves when life gets too bad).

The hope that we will go to heaven is a huge winner for religions to use on people who desperately want to believe that they will go to some place nice when they die.

The fact that noone has ever come back from heaven to tell us what really happens after we die - is irrelevant. The church just keeps pushing the old line - You gotta have faith. You gotta believe that Jesus will see you through the dark times (never mind that you made a bad decision). .

I dont live by faith. I live by fact and proof. I believe in taking responsibility for my own fate and my own decisions, and not using religion as a crutch.

Jesus has not returned in 2000 years - and I dont expect him to ever return. Yes, I believe in reincarnation. No I do not speak for the pope or for ANY religion for that matter. I am not an athiest. I am not an agnostic. I no longer consider myself to be a christian. I beleive in DEISM.

Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
The idea that Reincarnation was taught by the Church was started in the late 50 and popularized by the beat generation, zen guru, Alan Watts, but there really is no foundation for this. Just a scholastic rumor.

Actually, Jesus never taught reincarnation. Jesus Himself was risen...resurrected.
Reincarnation is where the body stays, and the spirit goes to another life. But Jesus was resurrected...body and all.

I'm curious where in the scriptures you got this idea. (that would've been helpful in the question).
