I have to agree to some extent with the bottom of a beer glass because once I had a drinking problem and one day I could not drink to get drunk anymore to get away from the inevitable. As one person said I drank myself sober to where I realized I was just adding insult to injury such that I quit drinking. I was 22 at that time. Alcoholism runs in part of the family usually the men but jumped to some of the women.

An older gentleman motorcylist use to ride to relax during a bad marriage to get away and think. After he divorced he continued to do this until some redneck tried to run him off the road for being a biker. At that time he had remarried and had a couple sons he always wanted from the marriage as he only had daughters before so he sold the motorcycle as he no longer had a need to escape from the constant persecution by his wife in the first marriage. It is a shame that people do not understand the need to relax and find enlightenment comes in so many forms. Very enlightening responses here all of them thank you.

Now I'm sure that's not going to be understood so I'll explain.
I realized many years ago that most of my problems are caused either by my action or my lack of action. Since that is the case I look within to find the answer.
I have always found it in the same place, within myself.
I was raised in a Christian family by great parents.
I'm a licensed and ordained preacher.
That's why I'm able to look within.

1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. The Lord God is Jesus Christ. The only way you can have peace is to know the Lord Jesus Christ which can save you from sin and Hell. The Bible says in Roman 10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Cranking my bike over on the Lady Young Highway, dropping down a gear and roaring past some boy racer with his too loud exhaust.

As several have stated, enlightenment comes from within. Perhaps asit is describe by Maslows' hierarchy of needs. When one achieves self actualization they have reached the pinnacle of their being.

It's different for everyone. I like to be alone, in complete silence and staring up at the ceiling. but for some, it could a rock concert or playing a sport.

i think when you stop trying to find true enlightenment and start opening your mind to ANY possibilities that then, and only then, can you truely be receptive to true enlightenment. and i dont think you can get it from anyone else- its something you find within your own self. you may be inspired by someone else, but it comes from you in the end.

enlightenment is in the space between the thoughts.. the still small voice that needs the silence to be heard.
