Some people are like open books.... They're so direct, it's easy to know them from cover to cover... Others are mysterious and full of surprises.. even their "closest" friends, can't always guess how they feel... So, how about you????

Can someone? None of these philosophers agree with each other. There are so many philosophical and ethical systems. Am I just supposed to pick one at random? Do I have to? Can I go ala cart? How can any of these writings matter since it's all the personal reflections of people long since in the ground? I could write something and call it a philosophy and it could theoretically be just as "important" even if it doesn't mean anything and is just my guess or ranting and raving. How does this work?

The sense contacts, O Arjuna, give rise to heat and cold, pleasure and pain; they come and go and do not last, endure them, O Bharata.

Man does not know this, because he is a slave to the senses. His mind is attracted by the senses and so he becomes deluded. When the senses perceive an object, and experience pleasure and pain, his mind becomes attached to the sense-objects. The senses lack definite relationship with their objects, and so they sometimes feel pleasure, sometimes pain. Now censure and praise belong to the sphere of the word, which, when heard, gives rise respectively to hatred and fondness. Soft and hard are the two qualities of touch; and its contact with the body produces joy and sorrow (11l-l 15). Likewise ugly and beautiful are the two qualities of form, which produce through sight pleasant and unpleasant sensations. So also fragrance and stink are the two forms of smell, and their contact with the nose gives rise to pleasure and pain.

Correct me if I am wrong because I am recalling this from Philosophy class a year ago.

Nietzche believed the Strong only knew good and bad. The Weak, who are more numerous, developed good and evil and placed the Strong's concept of good under its own definition of evil.

Would I be justified in rejecting Nietzche if instead of approaching the view of the world as divided into the Strong and Weak, I said...

Strong and Weak can be terms applied to the individual. What if the weak came together, formed the social contract and as a society, was more powerful than the individually strong? Could this coming together of the weak form an identity stronger than the Strong and thus could be considered the new Strong? Would then, morality be developed not to exclude the Strong, but instead to maintain the Strong Society?

I dont know if this makes any sense to anyone but if you did follow, I wanted to bring Scientific Evolution, applied in a Sociological way to determine the....
