Situational, case by case basis. In most cases, both heart and head are used to reach a decision; with the head (being able to analyse the situation, taking into considerations all details) making the final one.

Hi Dr.. Kimberly,
It depends on the circumstance. I.e. when I was about 19 years old I was dating a young woman who was about 4 years my senior and she wanted to get married. I had loved her deeply and wanted to after finishing college. I used my "head" and stated my case that I wanted to finish school and take care of some other responsibilties before making one of the most important decisions of my life. Knowing that I loved her so much she said to follow my heart and I explained to her that I had to follow my head. I thought that if it was meant to happen we would be together after meeting my goals for that period in my life.

my heart is always saying "yes", but my head is always saying "no, go with this answer or this decision...." And everytime i follow what my brain says, everything goes wrong. I should follow my heart most often, because everytime i do, everything goes right.

You forgot one very important thing in here. Intuition. And intuition doesn't come from ur heart or head it comes from ur sub-concious. I prefer my brain and intuition working together when making important life death, this that, Useful descisions, and I let my heart do the thinking when other ppl are involed and I use my heart to be sensitive to their needs.

I follow both but the head has the dominant role. If the head says do not do it and there is a rational reason then I don't do it.
