You've been growing up immersed in them and most of the time you have no clue it's there. ["You think that's air you're breathing?"]
Now that you're aware there is this thing(s) called paradigm(s), you might as well learn all you can about them so you don't go on thinking you are (just) what you think you think.
These philosophies are one way of manipulating and/or being controlled. People start believing and not really thinking things through.
"It's a good thing that people don't think." - Hitler
Yes, you can come up with your own as well as anyone can. If you want it ot "thrive", just put it out there and see what people "think" of it. (And if it gets you killed, you'll know that in 100 years people will accept it as self-evidently true.)
There may be a "truth" out there. And if your way of viewing it can predict and fuse seemingly separate events into a simple and useful explanations, then you will have a useful "philosophy."

You could totally come up with your own philosophy. What would make it popular like all those philosophies over time is that others would agree and that it would make an important statement about the world and how it operates. There are so many different philosophies out there because all of these philosophers made sense in some way or another at some point in time or another. As certain proof came out, or as certain thoughts changed in society, some philosphers would be all the rage while others would fall out of grace. You should not being basing your ethical system on something you read just because you decided to pick it at random. You should rather look at what you already believe in and then explore some of the writings of philosophers who have the same ideals.

The entire point of philosophy is that it doesn't matter--it's all hypothetical and there is no right or wrong, just a ton of "what if's" You can philosophically make anything happen and it has no bearing on reality at all--the atom bomb can go off and no one gets hurt, or it can be as simple as a fictional lover and what they might be like--you find your own scruples by being asked to think about what you would do in situations without those situations having to happen--like what would you do if you had to die so a dozen people could live? Or you can discuss something completely inconsequential like wether or not superman can have sex with human women and why. it increases your ability to think ahead and think on your feet and think creatively--and that might matter, but the rest of it is pure free thinking and a lot of fun

Yes, You could certainly start the Philosophy of "Jessicaism". The question is - would anyone buy into it or are You simply espousing certain "ideas" put forth before You?
The definition is - A search for a General understanding of VALUES and REALITY by speculation rather than Observation. This differs from FAITH, which is BELIEF in something without proof..
Many people adopt certain Philosophical lifestyles without even knowing it (Stoicism, Aristotelianism, etc), but a knowledge of philosophy may help you decide which to follow (Sort of like - "Exercise is good for You" BUT which form of exercise is best for You)

Looks like we have a skeptic. :)
Life is full of problems -- hard ones. Sometimes, problem comes also with different sets of logic to solve it and hence the philosophy behind each set of logic may be different. We may have to chose because of the situation at hand.
To put it in a nutshell, by reading philosophy, it helps to get a handle of how to solve a problem, to prepare for questions and build on the set of logic when answering them. Philosophy helps to make sense in the face of oppositions and also to develop workable solutions so different people could agree with others. Or else we would be stuck fighting over what and how things get done without the ability to move on.
It is the "love of wisdom" -- philo-Sophia.

It's about as important as exploring the vastness of space or the depths of the seas. The human mind holds more mysteries than either.
If the human mind was simple enough to understand, we'd be too simple to understand it.

Without the study of why we exist, we are just machines. What is the point? In 200 years, no one will even know we were here. Why should we continue to live?
