Let's face it, English is a stupid language.
There is no egg in the eggplant.
No ham in the hamburger.
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England.
And French fries were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted.
But if we examine its paradoxes we find that
Quicksand takes you down slowly,
Boxing rings are square
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

If writers write, how come fingers don't fing?
If the plural of tooth is teeth,
Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth?
If the teacher taught,
Why didn't the preacher praught?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables,
What the heck does a humanitarian eat?
Why do people recite at a play,
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways?
How can the weather be as hot as hell on one day
And as cold as hell on another?

I've got 2 good questions:

1. Why can't humanity ever end in peace? It always ends up in war--mass destruction.

2. Why is it that they call the uniforms of the doctors & nurses Scrubs?

to be evolved to a higher altitude than most humans. Roaches can claim that they finished evolving long ago. Viruses can claim to be evolving faster than we are. Why do we think we are more highly evolved than anything? What makes us think that this supposedly random process has a direction that we can discern and arrogantly claim that we are further along than anything else on earth? Isn't this a circular definition of evolution? How do we define "Most High"?

what would you give that you have? An insight? Some inner peace? Any powerful emotion? This "gift" is a non-material gift and what you decide on has to go to every single human being alive today---which means your loved ones will receive it as well as those who you may hate in this world.

I think philosophers collude maliciously to coadvertise their work while shutting the general public out of the directory of philosophical credibility. Their actions in philosphy reflect the actions of monopolistically competitive companies in the economic sector. Like these companies, collusive behavior dominates the industry and is not openly regarded as wrong, in part because it increases the overall sales, productivity, and cohesiveness - whether it be the industry of widgets or philosophy books.

This was put in the wrong category; now it is in philosophy where it belongs.
I know that there is a sentiment that while in an impersonal sense, one does not live on after death, but there is a sort of hint that a sort of endowment of eternity comes with having a soul. Isn't the mind the soul (interchangably) according to Spinoza though? So it'll decay along with the rest of the physical parts of the body after death won't it? What am I missing? Thank you for the time if there is an answer to this - it's not like I can just ask anybody about this sort of thing...
