what do you think were some factors that enabled the south to extended the war to last 4 yrs. and come closer to winning the war than it seemed they should have?

THERE WERE MANY FACTORS THAT ENABLED THE SOUTH TO EXTEND THE WAR TO LAST 4 YEAR AND COME CLOSER TO WIN THE WAR THAN IT SEEMED THEY SHOULD HAVE. ONE FACTOR WAS THAT THEY HAD GREAT GENERALS. ROBERT E. LEE IS AN GREAT EXAMPLE. ROBERT E. LEE WAS MODEST RATHER THAN VAIN, AND WILLING TO GO BEYOND MILITARY TEXTBOOKS IN HIS TACTICS. ANOTHER FACTOR WAS THAT THEY HAD EAGER SOLDIERS. THESE SOLDIERS WERE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO DEFEND THEIR HOMELAND.

what else should i write..??? is it good..??

The quintessential American song of the period was "Over There", the Brits had "It's a Long Way to Tipperary", the Aussies had "Australia Will Be There", but I don't think I've ever heard of a Canadian answer thereto.

About as close as I've ever heard was "Vive la Canadienne", which was the marching song of the 22nd Regiment, and was fairly popular among francophone Canadians but almost unknown among anglophones.

Do any of you know if there was such a thing?

I was watching an episode of NOVA the other night (1-16-2007), about
the British explorers who were searching for the Northwest Passage during the 1840's. DId you see it? Then you can probably figure out why I'm asking this---besides, when was the
last time that you saw an orange tree growing at the North Pole?

Me either!
