The Reagan Years.

Although a fine man, Jimmy Carter's presidency was marked by depressing times.

Reagan came into office, and it was like the sun came out. Of course, during his second term, we saw that it was being run by an astrologer.

The pop scene was marked by New Wave, sort of a commercial version of Punk. Was great to get out of the Disco Years.

A friend down the street tried to show this new-fangled PC thing he was selling from parts, and said I should get in on it. He didn't make a strong enough case. Wish he had!

Very nationalistic, patriotic, eager to put things like the Vietnam War, the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and stagflation from the 70's behind them. Right wing Republicanism was surging with Reagan in office. Business was booming for the Wall Street Crowd. Many Americans were very optimistic. Watch big hit movies from the 80's and you'll get a feel for it.

The 1980's were great! MTV is what I remember as being the most spectacular event as far as TV goes. They actually had music videos playing 24/7. 8 track tapes were still around also. I don't remember worrying about too much back then either.

I graduated in 1983. Our saying was:

We are Sexy
We are Free
We're the Class of 83!

Lots of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll!
