what do you think were some factors that enabled the south to extended the war to last 4 yrs. and come closer to winning the war than it seemed they should have?

THERE WERE MANY FACTORS THAT ENABLED THE SOUTH TO EXTEND THE WAR TO LAST 4 YEAR AND COME CLOSER TO WIN THE WAR THAN IT SEEMED THEY SHOULD HAVE. ONE FACTOR WAS THAT THEY HAD GREAT GENERALS. ROBERT E. LEE IS AN GREAT EXAMPLE. ROBERT E. LEE WAS MODEST RATHER THAN VAIN, AND WILLING TO GO BEYOND MILITARY TEXTBOOKS IN HIS TACTICS. ANOTHER FACTOR WAS THAT THEY HAD EAGER SOLDIERS. THESE SOLDIERS WERE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO DEFEND THEIR HOMELAND.

what else should i write..??? is it good..??

The part about the home land is true and a major point of why we fought so hard. Another was most of the professional soldiers especially officers cast their lot with the South. I guess the last thing would be the Southroners were much more familiar with the territory enabling them maneuver better.

God Bless You and Our Southern People.

We fought the war in the south so the southern soldiers knew the land well where as northern troops had to learn to navigate which was a huge advatage(but in the end was the souths disadvantage since the south was just about destroyed as a result of the war) also, most industries were in the south so the north had to find other ways to get materials and food usually grown in the south not to mention the money that was lost being cut off from the cash crops.

Most battles, not all, occurred in the South. Throughout history people who perceive themselves as having been invaded by an outside force tend to be more resilient and aggressive a fighting force. The southerners saw this war as an attempt to take away a way of life, their freedom to choose their form of government and economy (slavery), and their culture. The war succesfully took away their freedom to choose their form of government but it did very little to take away the Southern culture. Even today there are deep differences between the Southern culture and the Yankee culture. Go to New York and smile at someone on the street and saw "How ya doin?" and they'll look at you like you've got a horn growin out of your head.

They also had the advangate of being invaded. That is they had the knowlege of the terrain that the union army didn't have because they were in land unfamilair to them.

It is not how big or how many you are it is what you put into the battle.
