yes he did the Emancipation Proclamation but should that over shadow every thing he did wrong

1 he forced the south into the civil war. the south had every right to leave the country if they chose to. that's what the whole war of Independence was for. to say they weren't is to spit on their graves. but any way he knew the south couldn't have a fort in their biggest and most important port. filled with Union troops it would have cut the south in half and they told him not to resupply it or it was an act of war and he did it any way forcing the south to fire the first shot

2.like institute an unfair draft mostly immigrants were chosen for that draft or the poor that couldn't afford the 300 dollar buy out

3The most blatant abuse of Lincoln's power was his suspension of habeas corpus. The suspension of this constitutional guarantee, by which a person could not be imprisoned indefinitely without being charges with some specific crime

i live in illnois and they treat this man like a god here but when u bring up the fact he was racist like this

I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And in as much as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.

they want no part why is this stuff left out apout Lincoln
