They are all St. Nick. The pope Nicholas in Asia Minor, many years ago who became the patron saint of the poor and sailors. The gifts and chocolate gold coins came from a story where he went to a man's home who had daughters but no dowry. He threw the money into the window and some of the money landed in the stockings hung over the fireplace to dry faster. Every country has a different name for him and he looks a bit different. American Santa Claus is by far the most overweight. Black Peter is one of the guys who hangs with St. Nick. He does the bad stuff to bad children and St. Nicks deals with the good kids. Oh you better watch out.

I teach this stuff every Christmas. Fun, huh?
