Doing the touristy thing, we were told by a guide that Nelson's body was in a barrel of Malmsey and rowed ashore from the flagship by muffled whores. What sort of pantomime was that to bring home a national hero?

When I was growing up, the chief opponents of the UK, US and Russia in Europe were the "Germans". Now we only hear about the "Nazis" - like "the Nazi invasion of Poland" and so on. It's as if the Germans had nothing to do with it. This also has the consequence that we read about "dead Nazi submariers", when most of these guys would have been conscripts and not necessarily Nazis at all. Am I alone in thinking this change is deeply dishonest?
