The US federal government has income mainly from two sources: taxes and borrowing. Currently the US is borrowing a great deal and has the largest debt in the world. It is also the largest debt in history.

The most obvious place would be from the annual payment of taxes by the American public. There are also Customs -fees charged to ships importing and exporting cargo.
