I believe the German monoplane in WW I, known as the Eindecker, was one of the first planes used in war. The English also had a version of this slow-moving, slow climbing plane. Later in the war, another wing was added, and the French turned out one of the most successful dual-winged planes. A much faster plane but very delicate, it would break apart in steep dives. A bit later there was The Red Baron, with his red triple wing Fokker. Great climb ratio and highly maneuverable.

I don't have a reference handy to check this, but I am pretty sure that all of these answers are wrong. the first useful airplanes were in commercial production (by the Wrights and others) by 1910. So, before WW I there were some pilots who were travelling around demonstrating the new art of flying. I beleive that some of these pilots were in the Near East about 1910-11-12 when there was fighting in the Balkans and Turkey, and they were hired (by the Turkish govt?) to drops little bombs and shoot at the enemy in some of these skirmishes. So, that would definitely pre-date any fighting activity in WWI. As soon as WW I started there were planes in the air from Britain, France and Germany pretty much from day one, although they were not armed in any useful way for about a year or so....

Aircraft includes hot air balloons, so if you are thinking aircraft were first used in the 1900's then you are wrong.
Zhuge Liang (181 - 234 AD) was the first. In the Three Kingdoms era he used airborne lanterns for military signaling. These lanterns are known as Kongming lanterns.
So there is your answer, China.

surely the 1st jet fighter to work out production became into the He 280, a twin jet pre-production layout. 3-4 have been geared up in 1942. In a determination everyday of the completed Nazi government, the Luftwaffe opted to not circulate forward with production, as Goering did not see the prefer. the 1st operational jet became into surely the Gloster Meteor reserved by potential of Air Defence great Britain for V1 interception. the 1st jet utilized in air wrestle became into the Me262. An airplane so in simple terms before its time, that it became into extra acceptable to the F80 and F84 utilized in Korea. The 262 became into additionally utilized in wrestle-comments as a night-fighter variation, claiming 1x Mosquito. Heinkel had one final shot at a jet fighter with the He162. This airplane went operational with JG1 in January 1945. a pair RAF Typhoons claimed kills, yet considering the fact that no archives of JG1 from this time have yet been stumbled on, there is not any genuine assessment of its wrestle effectiveness. Postwar comments have been very favorable: interior the superb palms it would've been a great supplement to the -262. So the Germans surely fielded 2 jet warring parties, not basically one as is often assumed. This with Nazi ineptitude and the disruption brought about by potential of Allied bombing.
