Please read through this before you leave my question to go to someone else's, and help me if you can. I have auditions /this Saturday/ into a magnet arts achedemy high school. I'm /extremely/ nervous. One thing that I just can't get is my tendus. My foot just doesn't have that pretty arch like all the other girls that enables them to point beautifully and get all the way up on point. Some people don't even think I'm pointing my foot enough when it's simply as far as I can point it. I know the people who judge me might think the same. I was wondering if anyone can give me any exercizes that will make my ankles more flexible, or just any tips on how to do a good audition. (but especially the ankles/ good arch thing)

Thank you all so much.

Specifically looking for dance steps to 'I'm a Slave 4 U'; I know it used to be online somewhere and now can't find it for the life of me. Also would like 'Overprotected', or other similar dance styles to hip hop songs. Anyone got the answer? Pleeeeeease!

I took ballet when I was younger for about three years, but then quit when I was 10. Now, I've only been taking it for about 2 years, and im 15. I really want to get on pointe. If I dance everyday, how long will it take me to get on? My teacher said it would be about three more years... is there anything I can do to work harder and get on faster?

I am the one who wrote that first question on this topic...and for anyone wondering...NO I am not a stripper...lol!
I just wanted others opinions based on what the world thinks today. I didn't mean that it's ONLY the mans fault...but it's not like the dancer can choose who comes...that is up to the man or person. Also I highly agree with the woman who left the comment, who was a dancer herself...what she wrote makes a lot of since. I think it's about what the dancers goal is...and how she plans to present herself...weather it be slutty or just more along the lines of feeling comfortable to gain experience! I think girls who choose to do this, should really think it through and consider everything about it.
To the girl who criticized my spelling...I know what a red line under a word means....I obviously left it that way because it's how I wanted it! and thank you but...Who are you to judge lives that you know nothing about?

I like dancing, but I often wonder why peoples dance. For what if they don't intend to dance professionally as jobs.I am interested in Ballet, but I was rejected repeatly by my family. They reasoned that unless I want to be a Ballet teacher, they will not allow me to take up Ballet lessonl.
I am 20. I have heard that after 18, our body will have stop growing and it is best to take up ballet before 18.I have been very persistent in urging them, but they say that I still have to work for a living and Ballet make enough money. Anyway, I am not going to be a Ballet teacher or I would have waste my time studying. I only hope to perform Ballet professionally.I wish to take up ballet exams, but I am not sure how long I can finish Ballet.
And now most community offers Ballet lesson coaching for exams for seven years and above, but I am not sure if adults can learn with them.

There seems to be an on-going debate in the Philippines about which dance should be regarded as national dance. It used to be Tinikling. Now, they changed it to Carinosa. Which in your opinion should be the national Philippine dance? Tinikling or Carinosa? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Do you agree that Carinosa should be Philippines' national dance? If yes, why? If not, why not?

I just recently switched dance studios, from an American ballet studio to a Russian studio. The Russians definately push you harder, I've even cried in class before when my teacher pushed me into full side splits. So they are very tough. I aske my teacher about pointe' work and she said I'm not ready because I need to learn more Russian teqnique. She said maybe in about six months or a year! I didn't think it was fair since I've been dancing since I was three and a half. So I searched online and found these pointe' shoes. They are from Grishko. They are called Demi Pointe- EXAM. So I researched them and found out they are for dancers who re not on pointe' yet and are not going to be on pointe for a while. It suggested dancers wear them six months before going on pointe'. They strengthen your ankles and calves and get you more used to wearing pointe' shoes. You can't go up on them like pointe' shoes so they can't damage my feet. So should I get them or not?

He has had youtube remove videos of people doing it and is this about sueing those who do it wrong...? How do you feel about this.

I am so unimpressed. It's not even a good dance! But apparently he is the only one who is allowed to combine those 22 steps in that particular order... no one else. not even you....
