Carinosa is a choreographed dance, not the dance itself.
I dance salsa. It is like saying that Casino de Rueda should be the National dance of Cuba. It is a variation of Cuba's folkloric dance which is salsa or Casino.
Brazil's national dance is Samba, but then it is generic... variation of Samba for example is Carnival Samba.
Why make a choreographed dance a national dance when Carinosa is only a variation of Pandanggo?

My professor told me that Carinosa should not be the national dance of the Philippines because it is a choreographed dance with pandanggo sa the base dance. It should be Pandanggo and not Carinosa.
Also, how can Carinosa symbolizes Philippines when the dance tells about the unending courtship between couples?

It maybe symbolizes about 1/3 of the Philippines since from definition Carinosa are A Collection of Visayan Songs and Folk Dance. They still have collections of teh North (Luzon) and the South (Mindanao) songs and dances

No. Tinikling was the national dance for so many years..I dont know the reason why they changed it..maybe some oppurtunistic politician or gorvernment official that wants their name to be written in history..it doesnt makes sense.. i have read in an article that they changed it because carinosa reflects the filipina character of being sweet or romantic..and tinikling is a dance from a bird(tikling) that is magaslaw or careless or wild.
