Please read through this before you leave my question to go to someone else's, and help me if you can. I have auditions /this Saturday/ into a magnet arts achedemy high school. I'm /extremely/ nervous. One thing that I just can't get is my tendus. My foot just doesn't have that pretty arch like all the other girls that enables them to point beautifully and get all the way up on point. Some people don't even think I'm pointing my foot enough when it's simply as far as I can point it. I know the people who judge me might think the same. I was wondering if anyone can give me any exercizes that will make my ankles more flexible, or just any tips on how to do a good audition. (but especially the ankles/ good arch thing)

Thank you all so much.

Audition-
EVERYONE is nervous for auditions, but the one thing you don't want to do is to show it. It will tell the judge that you might not be ready for this sort of thing because who knows how you will react to a performance. Take a few deep breaths. Do not constantly go over steps in your head because it will cause a major brain strain and you will end up forgetting them. Just do your best and do not compare yourself to any other dancer there while you are dancing because that will only put you down and weaken your performance. Good luck!

Ankle/Foot-
Constantly be flexing and pointing throughout the day. Another thing to do to help with your arch is to put your pointed feet under a low couch or have your dog sit on them. Put a small towel on the floor and use your toes to push it across the floor which will cause your foot to point and will increase the flexibility/arch in your foot. You could also do the same thing with a stretch band but you would hold it.

I hope this information helps you. I wish you the best of luck at your audition. I know it is nerve racking but stay focused and you will do great!

Even though that is what the judges mostly look upon, don't worry to much over it because over time through practice, your tendus will get better, especially if you are rolling through your feet in anything, including sautes and landing after those jumps. Just keep your head up, stay off of the back row, keep your core/ abdominal muscles engaged, and show 'em what you got!

Everyone's body is different. For example, I don't have great arches either, but I have strong legs. It's possible to improve your feet, but it will take time, not just the few days you have before the audition. So play up your strengths! (And smile to the judges.)

sit down with your legs straight out in front of you, and have some one come and push(but not too hard) on your foot..they should have their whole hand on the top of your foot..fingers to the ankle and palm on the top of the foot....point all the way and then have them push your foot back to flex...then point flex point flex....
