Yup, asked the same question two months ago: how should I ask my mom to let me take ballet again? I took it for four years, but I have stopped for two years. I've been telling her for the past two months that I want to take it again. Badly. And she knows, she's told me she knows, she said she's looking, but she's really not, and it's driving me insane. It is driving me insane because I do not want to constantly bug her about it. I know she works. I know she's busy. I know she spends half the weekend with her boyfriend because they make each other happy and whatnot. But I just feel like she's not trying. She said two weeks ago that she would go to a dance studio and find out what the ages are. She never did. The next week, she worked. I understood. She said she would this week. She didn't. Should I just go there myself and ask what the ages are? Should I just stop relying completely on my mom and take some responsibility? I feel so lost for no reason at all.

...and do you need experience in ballet? I take hip hop and tumbling classes but I was also interested in modern and I wasn't sure what it was. I don't want to know the whole history. I just want to know some basic things involved in modern dancing. Thanks!

When I go out dancing, I'm all right when I dance alone (say, in a small circle with my friends). But when one of my girlfriends (I'm a girl) come up to me for some close dancing for fun, I get horribly confused about what to do. Especially when her back comes up behind me and we "rub" backs and bend lower and lower. Sorry if this sounds confusing!!

So, question: How do I follow her rhythm? Do I go up when she goes up, down when she goes down, so that our backs are glued? Or do I go down when she goes up, like really rubbing backs? I'm always embarrassed that I may not be doing it the right way.

Thanks!

I just started dancing again after a very long break because of ankle injury. I'd like to strengthen my lower back and improve the strength and extension of my left leg. I can't afford and don't have the time to set aside time for a class, but are there any tips I can use for at home stretches?

I know the very basic steps, but having trouble with turns and more complicated steps. My real instructor moves fast and my whole class is latino, so they already know a bit...why my class is called beginner is beyond me, but I'm keeping up somewhat.

I have always loved dancing, it's healthy and fun, but I keep reading that it's the most unacceptable thing a pensioner can do. Seems it's OK for us to pay for and clean up after younger people, but we're not supposed to dance in public.

When did this prejudice start ? I certainly don't remember saying abusive things about my parents' generation dancing, and although we thought the dances they did were naff, I don't remember anyone saying they shouldn't do it.

Incidentally, I'm not overweight, I work out at the gym and I can dance. But even if I couldn't, why aren't I allowed to have fun ?

My son doesn't want to invite any of my generation to his birthday party because he fears we might dance. He'll be accpeting presents from us, I expect though.
