When I go out dancing, I'm all right when I dance alone (say, in a small circle with my friends). But when one of my girlfriends (I'm a girl) come up to me for some close dancing for fun, I get horribly confused about what to do. Especially when her back comes up behind me and we "rub" backs and bend lower and lower. Sorry if this sounds confusing!!

So, question: How do I follow her rhythm? Do I go up when she goes up, down when she goes down, so that our backs are glued? Or do I go down when she goes up, like really rubbing backs? I'm always embarrassed that I may not be doing it the right way.

Thanks!

When following, you pay attention to your partner first and to the mucis second. Follow where her weight goes. Verbally or non-verbally, you need to decide which one of you is leading. If you are following, you go up when she goes up, and you go down as she goes down. You are relying on each other's balance. If you go up as she goes down at a low pint, you both might fall on your butts.

My answer is take control. Turn her around. Make her bend over. Slap her butt. You will be the hottest thing on the dance floor. That is what you are looking for, right?

follow the beat, chances are shes somewhat with the music...find at which beat she goes up and which beat she goes down (ect.) or take the lead yourself. Or if it makes you feel uncomfortable....don't do it..
