you can, but it doesn't mean that you will. when you're dancing, you're burning off calories. and if you stop dancing, you may gain some calories, or you may not if you keep exercising in other ways, or your metabolism is just fast.

If you can keep up the same amount of exercise that your dancing was giving you, then no you won't. Dancing is a good form of exercise, so this is why while you dance, your weight remains relatively stable unless you have a change of diet or something. When you stop that form of exercise, but continue eating in the same way without substituting the dancing with something else, then you will start to put on weight.

OK, I can say that for certain -- I am looking for points and yours seems a question that I can answer -- but, in general a change of habit such as you suggest requires something to take its place. My own personal experience with stopping smoking and not doing anything but stopping contributed to my fatness. I think a lot of other factors such as my age and my lifestyle being inactive (I was caring for my mother who was sick and escaped from her demands by computer use). I should have developed a healthy habit then when I saw I was in trouble. But, I didn't think that I would get so fat so fast. SO... if you're changing to an inactive life style beware. Exercise is a prime factor in weight gain and health. If you are old enough to go through any of the changes that our bodies go through after we become adults -- I was skinny all my life until I got to be about 53 and then suddenly I am gaining weight just looking at food. Well, or so it seems. That is the other factor to watch; if you have slowed down you may want to slow down your claoric intake. So food, exercise and age and finally beware of a change of habit because all habits come from a satisfaction and to give one up then requires another to take its place. Good Luck! I just want to add that a change of situation (location) can be the same as a change of habit. Like a really stupid example is that if you lived on the 51st floor of a building with no elavator and walked up and down those stairs every day and then moved to the ground floor. But, moves like that effect habits like eating and excecise ...

Im no expert although i would sayy yes because your body is used to u dancing. If you suddenly stop the stored energy in your body starts altering to adjust to you not dancing. You will probraly temperarily put on fat whilstt your body is ajusting but once uor body has dont this you will go back 2 your normal weight. U may feel ill temporarily after stopping dancing aswell (excuse my bad spelling Im tired !)

I danced for 6 hours a day at uni ( Various classes) I dont do half as much now, I didnt become fat as im still fairly active, I have lost some tone though but not much.
As long as you dont start stuffing your face with any old crap and remain active you should be ok

It depends what your diet is like! If you currently eat a lot of junk but burn it off through dancing, when you stop you will inevitably gain weight. I'm afraid that's what happened to me, and it's taken an age to shed it again.. You're simply going to have to watch what you eat, and take up a different for of exercise!

I don't think that you will become fat. If you were a dancer by profession and you used to do it everyday and they your stopped you wouldn't get fat, you might lose some of your muscle tone. But unless you suddenly started eating more you wouldn't get fat

i used to dance jazz and ballroom when i was younger, i gave up when i was about 13. i never put any weight on at all. i did do martial arts for a few years after too.
when i finished dancing i never put weight on, i have remained the same weight as i was when i was 13-14 years old. all you got to do is walk more or do something that is active that you enjoy, i do alot of walking and fitness now (thats because ive had a child) and i havent put any weight on at all.

Yes. Unless you do some other activity,, Your metabolism is very high as a dancer, and if you cut that off and do nothing you wont burn the fat that you usually do unless you diet and excercise.
