Can anyone help me name this book about a girl who lived in an orphanage and she was curious about what was on the other side of the wall that was in the back yard, so she climbed over the wall and found an abandoned house with a seashell fireplace and she cleaned it up or something like that. My daughter would like to remember the name so she can get the book again. I have searched all over the internet and nothing comes up. Any help?

I submitted a poem to poetry.com and they sent me mail and said it's been selected as a semi-finalist,so i had to send back in this artist proof page and they said i didn't need to do anything right now. but they way they talk, i'm going to have my poem published regardless of whether or not i become the "grand prize winner" and all. so i guess it'll be in there anyway?

I just wrote it today. i also got a copywrite on it too!

Its called: Good Bye Friends

What a true site
With all the might
i just had a fight
and it was not right.

I get kept from with secrets behind my back
Kept by 2 peoople that look bad

U keep it up
im the strong one
im stronger...i can walk away

If u have a problem
then so be it
If u like me
Then be friend.

A true friend never keeps a secret from another friend
One way or another its gonna come out
whether u see my reaction or not.

Keep it up!
Im more strong!!
You will know it when the time comes.

Im walking away
I won't be back
Say "see you later"
Because you will soon realize it will come out
The truth i mean, that will be out!

Im leaving-good bye
See u in the after life

I am better off without you
I can survive without you
I don't feed off your B.S.

It was a matter of time...and it that ran out
See ya later good bye im gone
I hope u feel bad for what u have done

im 14 and in the 9th grade. ive been writing in general for about 4 yrs on and off. ive been writing stories for the last 3 yrs i think.
this is how i brainstorm: when im inspired, i think of characters, their traits pasts and family. Then the conflict and how to build up the the conflict. If im thinking straight i MIGHT make and outline of the story. If i dont then i actually daydream the story so i can get a feel of what going on. For people who don't understand that, I basically make a movie in my head about the storty so i can better understand what will and should happen in the story.
In the last three yrs, i believe i've finished 3-7 short stories, no i don't write novels, I won't go that far until i can get passed short stories. for some reason, i can never finish a story. i can think of the beginning and the end, just nothing in between.
What tips do you have?
oh and one more thing. How do you deal with too many story ideas that you cant get out of you mind?

Wonder if anyone can recommend any theoretical books that concentrate on short films and their narritives, rather than features?

I'm starting an MA in January and that's the subject we're covering in our first term so I want to get a head start(!).

Important: these books should be readily available in the UK only - either through Foyles, Borders or Waterstones in London (where I'm based) or through Amazon.co.uk (can't afford the import charges from Amazon.com).

I asked this last night and no-one answered so i'm hoping the Sunday afternoon hangover crowd will be more helpful!!!

I wrote this poem and I need some feedback about how good/bad it is

The poem is about me not knowing how to write rhyming poetry, hence the title. Just tell if it sucks or if its good. I don't mind negative feedback.

The Rhyme

The rhyme, The question, The allusive query
Escaping tongue, Caught in hand, Entombed in ink
A broken shard of fondness shaped into refined envy
Sinuous rapids of conundrums afflict the writers’ sync

Hypnotized by resolve, mesmerized by tenacity
Cloaked under puzzling venture
Mislaid rendition vanishing courtly
Waltzing rhythm of assonance
Radiate prestige on this bookish raconteur.

I am in desperate need for a handheld device - a smartphone, PDA or any other which I can use to read ebooks . I want to read .pdf .pdb .lit .txt .doc .prc etc and I would like something which I can use to read comic pdfs hassle less. also pdfs with dual column text. even if the handheld doesn't come built in with these features a handheld for which softwares are readily available would be fine.

He had gone away
Leaving her a kiss
Despite her plea to stay
To the abyss
As days passed
For him, she waited
As the bliss would last
For his coming belated
She would pray
To the clouds above
For the safe return
Of her love
He did not return
Leaving her lonesome
She’d long and yearn
For it to come
Day and night
She waited in pain
But her faith
Did not wane
Nothing deterred her
Nor did she cry
Nor her hope waver
As time flew by
At last one day
Her beloved came
Not old nor grey
Unlike her, but the same
