in general, they depict the characteristics of the filipinos during the spanish regime. i forgot the specifics though. (it's been years since i last read them) i just remeber some: Doña Consolacion - she represented the filipinos who were trying so hard to be spanish to be accepted by the society (if it's not her then it's the other doña) Padre Damaso - the friars at that time who had way more power than they ought to have Maria Clara - she was the "inang bayan" i think sorry i don't remember anything else. you could probably find something if you search it.
