the prohecy states one can not live while the other survies and it also states the 7 month or something like that , so we all think its harry cause of his birthday but did you no nevielle has the same birthday and because neville is always the clumsy one wouldnt you think j.k rowling will make him a hero. i also think dumbldor will come back to the castle but not as a person but his spirt because in dumbledors office all the headmasters potraits are there and i think harry will soon realise that so he will go back to school. i also think dumbldor will try and kill herminoe because she is the ones with the brain if its not for her he would be dead by now. i aslo think draco malfoy will go on harrys side and firght against his fathers will I think j.k rowling will make another book after the 7th show harrys life after the war because i do indeed he will live while neviele is the one to die. j.k rowling says she does not want anyone copy her books so that means harry has to die prob.not

But, on that soulless morning after, I longed for the tailback lined with festive queues.

Could you explain the meaning of this sentence?

It's obviously going to be a long running case in Victorian times.

I am a translator and I need to know the actual meaning of 'throwing a fit' as mentioned in the following sentence:

Courtney Love threw a fit at a Sundance gathering when the wife of the Hollywood Reporter's chief film critic took her picture, Variety reported.

I was thinking last night as Greystoke was on TV that they're both very similar in their concept, and they both originate from the same era. So I wonder which was written first, and if the other was in some way inspired by it?

I've been looking for it for a while. I've tried Amazon.co.uk etc, but they only have the hardback edition which costs £30.

It was about 2 children, sister and brother, (I think the girl was called Dorothea) and they moved to a new place, and met a new group of kids who taught them how to do all types of codes, like Morse Code, Semaphore etc. I think the boy fell out of a tree as well. It was something like 'Winter's Tale', i think, have searched on google, just cannot find it. Would love to read it again!

Which American writers, film makers etc, have given the most insightful accounts of British life, and vice versa? And which have missed it completely?
I'm referring to everything from tiny linguistic points, like the English duke who tells his servant to "Fix me a scotch" to the most profound, society-wide ideas. These can be positive or negative views - the whole point of criticism is understanding.
For example, I think Ludlum's England is pure Disneyland, all aristocrats and fogs and loyal monarchy-loving "cor strike a light" Cockneys.
Alison Lurie in Foreign Affairs seemed to be onto something, though.
James Hadley Chases's books turn into farce every time the "Americans" talk - he just hasn't got the rhythm of American speech. In fact, most British emulators of the hardboiled crime school think that just putting in loads of violence will do it - wrong!

Chronological would be espcially nice. I'm hoping to learn from his writings how an author can develop thorughout a number of years.
Not to mention, he's one of my favorite authors.
