sorry indra, but imho, 'east of eden' is a far better steinbeck book than is 'grapes of wrath'

Children and Fools is a darn good novel, so that's what I'm answering to you.

But to reply to Ralph W, the movie the Count of Monte Cristo was better than the book in that I liked Mercedes better, and I liked the plot better. The book was great in that it was exciting and easy to read.

Great, Great Book
Another fav is "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb
"The Alchemist" is a book everyone should read-wonderful

I must give two novels - one is "Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.....the class masterpiece at any period of discussion throughout the world. And second one is of Indian Writing in English group....."The Bend in the Ganges" by Manohar Malgonkar.....the novel depicted on the partition of India... A must read category.
