I sell secondhand books on eBay. How can you tell if it is a First Edition book without it saying so? For example, the book has the same publication and copyright year, would this be a First Edition?

There are many poems by that title. This particular one was read on the public radio program "This American Life" a few months ago. The name of the author is something sort of like L. M. Sant.

SONG OF THE PALANQUIN BEARERS

Better is it when it is full
than when it is empty!
Happy are they who bear the chair!
Better is it when it is full
than when it is empty!
Come down to them that they are rewarded, hail!
Come down to them that they are rewarded, health!
O reward of Ipi, be it as great as I desire!
Better is it when it is full
than when it is empty!

*Ipi is the master of the palanquin bearers. What do the workers hope to get from him?
*The palanquin bearers speak of something "full" and "empty." What is it? Why is it better "when it is full than when it is empty"?

Hi!

Ok, here is my problem. I just picked up Johanna Lindsey's "Captive Of My Desires" novel, her latest book on the Malory series. But it has been forever since I have read Johanna Lindsey's Malory Series books and I was wondering if any of you can remind me how all the characters are related to each other. I went looking for all the other Malory books I own, but I just moved and I can't find them. Ugh!!! Is there some kind of family tree or something I can reference? I tried to look up the books on Amazon, but all that is there is the summery of the story-- no mention of who is realted to who. Please Help!!!

:)
Thanks...
T.

My story is set in England during the year 1799. The problem I'm having is that I need a reason why a group of men would want to beat the hero of my story (a writer) up!! My writer is an atheist (in that village, it's a place rather strict in orthadox) and he's rather bad-mouthed and (when provoked) violent---but of course, the heroine of this story is the girl who changes him--------so why would a group of men want to beat him up??? I doubt that it would be rational for a group of men in christian community beating him up because he's an atheist (this just doesn't make sense) and I don't want to easy way out of this problem by making it "Some guy who loves the heroine is jealous that she loves another, and so beats that other guy up." Might there be any other reason why a group of men would want to beat up a writer??

Its called"Cries for Help and Tears of Fear."

A total nights destruction, the lives it took meant nothing.
Families, pets, and broken hearts, homes and yards were torn apart.
Flooded lands with cars so still, crashing down streets and floating down hills.
What happen next to my dismay, were times to come mornings day.
The people left not in a home, were housed inside a hell filled dome.
Rapes, deaths, and tears of fear, sending messages for some to hear.
But eyes and ears were allsealed closed,
pointing fingers as the death toll rose.
Then one day, they sarted to hear, those cries for help and tears of fear.
Now they do all that they can,to make right for the wrong of man.
Katrina was bad,but what is next, more deaths, more cries, more storms exists.
Many wrongs can make a right, but how many will it take to save more lives.

Do you think this poem is true.
