I have read many great books that scare the crap out of me. Here are some written by other writers besides the usual Stephan King, Dean Koontz etc. I suggest:
Darkness, Tell Us by Richard Laymon.
The Infinite by Douglas Clegg
The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
lost boy lost girl by Peter Straub
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (this boos is crazy wierd)
Every Dead Thing by John Connoll
The Summoning by Bentley Little
The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

Of course there a tons more.....what about you all?

I have been learning hindi for the last three years but we dont have a speaking community here in Malaysia. I am looking for novels that contain direct speech as in " Main nahi jaanta hun, usay puch lo" etc...Family issues and romance would be fun. I dont have anyone in India and the best thing would be to purchase these books thru online store. I prefer simple hindi similar to hindi film dialogues....Roy

I have read all the stories about Sherlock Holmes when I was student. As I think most people have read it and they would agree that it has most mind-stimulating effect and worth reading. Because of this, I decided it would be nice to translate these stories into my native language, so that everyone else, especially school kids can read them.

There are 9 books about Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Connan Doyle.
1. A STUDY IN SCARLET
2. THE SIGN OF FOUR
3. THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES ...etc.

I have translated first two books and recently published one of it. And I intend to translate and publish all nine of them.

Recently, I have been assigned a task to write an essay "What are your three most substantial accomplishments and why do you view them as such".
Do you think that my translation should be considered substantial accomplishment? And if it should, how do explain why?

Thank you in advance,

I know everyone takes different amounts of time to write their novel, but I was just curious as to how long it took you to complete it, and how often you sat down to write it (approx)? For those working on novels right now, how often do you find the time to right? Thanks.

The Writer

The writer sits in her chair
Staring into space
Waiting for inspiration.
Waiting for the spark
When she starts her hand is blurred
She pores her thoughts onto the page
She writes a poem of love and hate
She writes a poem of tragedy
She writes the poem of her life
When she's finished she cries for a while
Then she burns the poem
With the memories so painfull
So no one will see that poem
No one will ever feel her pain

im really close 2 guys who r 3-5yrs older than me...& i like hanging out w/ them. so every time i talk about them (the older guys) to my girl friends they would usually put some malice. like for example, i told my girl friend that "jake" (one of my older guy friends) gave me a lift after ou game and my friend will be "ooohhh... it's getting somewhere else."
i don't know why they (my girl friends) r always reacting that way whenever i talk to the about my older guy friends... i tried to xplain 2 them that d guys r just lyk brothers to me bcoz i dont have an older bro hu cud give me the brotherly affection im looking for.
cu it b bcoz they're really seeing "something" btw'n my older guy friends & me... or r they just being plain malicious.
pls say anything that wud lighten me up bcoz im afraid all these silly reactions from my girl friends wud ruin my friendship with the guys...
