I am a poor schoolteacher, and she is a very pretty daughter of a very wealthy farmer. I do not even have my own house.
And they do have a mighty good stock of food, and I am a great eater. You should have seen their poultry yard and their pig sty!

If a person looks to their personal spirit or soul for an answer, will it always be the right answer?

I came across this question online and I thought it was interesting. When you're gone, what do you want to leave behind for people to remember you by? What do you hope that others learn from your life? What example do you want to set? This is a flexible question; I'm just curious on what you all think.

This is the full version of the Q compressed to fit the headline Q-box 10 character limit:

Is objectivity an attitudinal goal in all thinking endeavors especially in problem-solving & in philosophic reflection?

Plato, Aristotle, Stoics, and many philosophers like Kant and Hegel to mention only a few of many philosophers, thought so. I think it is part of the open-minded approach to philosophy. Your opinions supported by reasons/ Pls no casual answers as this is no casual Q. Said for focus and in case you have not noticed I don't ask trivial Q's or like trivial A's. Feel differently than I do? Then, pls be courteous & considerate, & skip my Q's.

offtopic comment: Compressions and abbreviations(some phonetic) sometimes is necessary to draw audience attention. It's more effective & informative than: "I have a philosophy Q? in the Q-box. Don't you think? I remember the tail end of the telex days which, by the way, have returned in new form as texting on small handheld screens!

Marterialism is the mainstream even our scientific ideas are material based. We are taught to value that which is proved by the physical and to value most endevours which will gain the most materialist reward for our efforts.
Some of the negative results of this type of reasoning is less value on the non-physical aspect of ourselves(mind soul spirit) Many believe your our lives are only physical and everything about us will end at when we die and sense that is the case one should value the physical above all else as it is the only thing that is real or that matter. Is this dangerous for westerners and is our assumption that other cultures will conform to this type of reasoning dangerous also? Why should the physical aspect of reality be the most valued quality in my life am I not of mind and spirit also should we not nuture these areas also?
If we don't what is likely to happen to the western culture will we survive?

I was watching a documentary about the Jewish history. It mentions that in the 1600s the Cossacks massacred the Jews in Poland. This massacre was followed by another at the hand of the Russians, then the Swedes. Can anybody tell me a brief story of those 2 massacres?

I saw a special on PBS Frontline the other day on the Siege of Bethlehem and it ended with these lines:

"NARRATOR: But this is the Holy Land. The conflict isn't over yet. Lior's last task is to mediate between three Christian orders, all of whom want to be the first to enter the Church of the Nativity.

Lt. Col. LIOR: [to monks] This is a happy day. It's a happy day. I want everybody to go behind the- [crosstalk]"

Does anyone know which order was the first to enter? The last?

I am wondering if you can or if it is valid. If ones intentions to eat an apple are just because one is hungry. But then as you eat it you decide to eat it because you want to nourish yourself. Does the latter intention prove better or is it always your first intention. Is the meaning of intention what is first.

Sorry if I am confusing you it isn't such a good analogy but please try to answer.

My uncle, Ebenezer Balfour, tried to kill me! He is very miserly. He asked me to fetch a chest from the top tower and I found out that the stairs simply end after several steps and fall into the abyss.
He was planning to kill me so as not to have to give over his inheritance.
He didn't allow me to use any light, and it was dark, and he told me that the stairs were great, and I could find my way easily.
What should I do?

I came across an ad that said they were looking for book submissions. However when I went to their website http://www.tvpress.com/ they seem mainly to published books by Robert Stanek. There were only two other authors with a book each listed. Is this some company run by one guy doing a print-on-demand deal somewhere?

first of all, i'm not very knowledgeable on this (also, i'm not from the states) so i apologize if my question will come across as too naive. basically, i like to think everything is possible for everyone as long as you're alive. so, was there any way for people to escape from the south to the north where they could get an education/decent job and live a dignified life. or if not, was there any way they could get a decent job in the south. thanx and happy holidays xxx

Now I realize the mockery behind the Coo Coo Clock.
It certainly works like clock-work. It simply goes round and around, endlessly.
Its only purpose is time and what is life?
Time.
Everything else about us is an artificial and superficial distraction.
Ironically, this world is tailored to mankind's survival and destruction.
1. Nothing is perfect.
2. Perfection is hollow.
3. Perfection is pure.
4. Perfection does not exist.
5. Life is a Perfect circle.
(you mean like a "0" / zero or are you implying life is a clock???)

-An imperfect circle, is not always a circle, but always cycles.
-Even an imperfect circle's purpose is clear, to connect everything together and become whole.
"$weet?" (it more of a prison than a family)
