I am wondering if you can or if it is valid. If ones intentions to eat an apple are just because one is hungry. But then as you eat it you decide to eat it because you want to nourish yourself. Does the latter intention prove better or is it always your first intention. Is the meaning of intention what is first.

Sorry if I am confusing you it isn't such a good analogy but please try to answer.

Graham I don't believe that your answer is completely based on truth. Of course first impressions change. Your answer is a bit contradicting.

I believe you can never replace that initial intention, because that is the ultimate reason you've started whatever it is you decided to do. Your intentions definitely can change in the interim.

Intention is the initial conscious reasoned plan that prompts an action. Like first impressions they do not change.

It is possible to forget why we initially did something, or our real motivations may later come to us. E.g. You may initially dislike a person and not know the reason and later find they reminded you of an old enemy.

Your rudeness may not have been intended by you but may have been intended by your subconscious.

The word is likely related to "initial". Your initial plans are your intentions. If you initialize an action you may be responsible even if it had unexpected (or unintended) consequences.

You can just say that your first intentinon was to eat it because you were hungry and the second intention was to nourish yourself.

Intention is motive and the original intention is always the purpose for an action. Remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
