Does anyone have any really dramatic monologues for a teen or know where I can find some. Preferably ones that involve crying or something like that (my favorite to act out!)

Usually when I have to do that I am always so 'into' the moment it comes naturally. There have been times when I have had to resort to remembering sad times in my life and putting that into the context of the scene I am in. For instance, when I was playing Tom Wingfield and giving my last monologue about his sister, I thought about my own sister and how I would feel if she were in the same predicement as Tom's sister. Sometimes it's hard to do, but when it works it's very effective.

For a novel. I know for the ones I've read the climax and ending is usually brought around in about 7-10 chapters. I would like to know because I want it to be quick and have a good impact, and not long, boring and drawn out ... but I don't want to to be too quick or too slow. What is a good way to do this in, to wrap up a novel?

This is one I wrote a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to know what y'all think.

The Chess Game

A small, off-white piece moves first,
Advancing on the dark black army,
Hinting at a bigger plan.
The black army moves,
Responding to the sly movements
Of the creamy other player.
Within a few moves,
The obstacles have been removed,
Leaving the heart of the game exposed.
Black takes advantage, moving in,
Wounding the rest of my white army.
I protect the king with all I have left,
But it’s too late—I’ve given you my white king.
Your move.

If I were to start the prologue of a story with a woman telling a story her mother used to tell her as a child (this is fantasy) about how a certain race came into being and then was forced into seclusion, would you want to read on? It is more about a war of power, and someone who wants to eliminate an entire race. Would this be a good opening, or would you not want to read on? I do not trust posting any of it here, or else I would ... so if not, how could I change it? Should it not be told as a "childs tale" and actually told as a real story about a young boy? Or should it be introduced in the book later? This is my first time so I am not quite sure on how to write openings yet, and what is catching to a lot of people ... it's soiunds quite dull when I explain it on here, but it is better on paper.

Any suggestions? Thanks! :)
