What does it mean when somebody say "to have a jazz guitar 'professionally set up' or 'set up'"? I have played classical/acoustic guitar all my life but am moving into a jazz-electric guitar (hollow body, single cut, etc), and I would like to know what new terms like this one that I'm seeing on discussion boards mean.

My partner was adopted but wants to meet his birth family, so that he can find out the medical history (and if things go well to possibly get to know them). He has the phone number of his mum's mother, but he is really nervous of being turned away and has put it off for years. Does anyone have any suggestions based on personal experience (or not based on personal experience) on how we can approach this situation in the best way?

"December 23 is not ruled by any tree for it is the traditional day of the proverbial "Year and a Day" in the earliest courts of law."
Who can tell me what this means? Is it that the end of the year was the 23. IE; a year on the 22nd and a year and a day would make it the 23rd?
I just stumbled across this as I was reading bits and pieces about the celtic tree. I was looking for "my" tree only to find that I'm without one! Any info or link would be appreciated.

Today I almost had to present my page long speech, however there was not enough time and so it was posponed... Although I had practiced a number of times, I didn't factor in my heart rate. When I was prepared to go today, my heart was racing and I surely would have had a tougher time with pauses and breathing had I gone. Are there any good ways of keeping your heart rate down right before a presentation?

This is for an AP Art History anaylsis. Each example needs to be from different time periods and the origional locations need to demonstrate the ideals of the culture that created it. I've already thought of a few examples but i'm always looking for more (The AP test is only a few weeks away!) Thanks for all your help.

I am going to be writting a essay on Poetry analysis of the poem "Passion" by Zora Neale Huston. I would like anyone's input of the theme, meaning (author's point), and poetry elements of the following poem:
When I look back/ On days already lived/ I am content./
For I have laughed/ with the dew of the morn,/ The calm of night;/ With the dawn of youth/ And spring's bright days./
Mid-summer's bloom/ And autumn's ripening glory/ My youth is rejoiced/
And when winter bleak/ Spread melancholy 'round/ I still smiled on./ And I have loved/ With quivering arms that/ Clung, and throbbing breast--/ With all the white-hot blood/ Of mating's flaming urge./
My cool, white soul/ Has oft fared forth/ In Astral ways,/ For non may lag/ When star dust hides the earth./
The wings of dreams/ Have swept me up/ To touch my feet on the cloud/ And wander where non/ But souls dare climb.
Thank you extra with a cherry on top. :)
