Does it have to have a definate beginning and end, or can it be just a sample taken out of the middle. Can it be just enough to tell the reader the plot? I have a 4 page sample, if you will call it. It is the middle of a story, no beginning or end. I want to use it to get the interest of publishers and hopefully get my book published. Should I add more to this sample? How do I do this without giving the whole thing away? What do people expect when reading stories from aspiting authors in need of a publisher?

I'm just curious which way music is evolving. It's hard to recognize great talent in the thick, but time and future generations tell. I'm just wondering which musical artists will best represent our era 200 or 300 years into the future. I say Pink Floyd is one of the greats during the last 100 years. They took musical wave lengths to a new level of depth and breadth. Of course it always helps a bit to smoke a bowl before listening. Anyways, please enlighten me. I'm looking for musical expansion in the evolution of sound.

if we want to. We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

Seriously, I'm dancing right now.

I know screenplays use the generalized 1 page = 1 minute. Does that hold for the stage?

And what is the typical length of a one-act play (both pages and minutes)?

I started writing something almost two years ago and so many people who read the little bit were impressed and ready to see the rest of the story. Unfortunately I got writers block and can't think of what else to do to the story without ruining the thing. Has this ever happened to you? How did you cure yourself and start writing again?

There's hundreds of books out there that have stories taking place in the Star Trek universe - in all the various incarnations. Enterprise, The Original Series, Lost Era, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Excalibur, etc etc...

Out of all this, I'm curious to see what people think is the best story written.

Can anyone please help me with the title of this book-I have no author, only a description. Its a coming of age of sorts about a teenage girl growing up in the late 1970's, her first love & eventual discovery that her best friend (Jeff?) is gay. It also involves a group of teens involved in community theatre. When its discovered Jeff is gay, he is 'tarred & feathered'. I'd say it was published late 70's, 80's. A repeated line in the book is from Jeff- "it's true, I've done research on it". Any answers appreciated!
