Hello! In Russian we have a word "Evristika" and I need to know how it will be in English! Maybe Evristics or Euristics, or Ewristics or something comepletely different!
"Evristika"-(from Greek - find) is the science that studies the creative activity, methods used while inventing something new and while learning.
Another:
"Evristika" -
1) the totality of methods of findings the solvings of problems
2) the way of studying that has it's roots is Socrat's Mayevtics.
If somebody has understood what word I was talking about please tell me!

My brother doesn't like to read (unlike me), but doesn't mind listening to audio CDs. He loved listening to Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King. Does anyone have any recomendations as to novels that could be found on audio CD that are similar to Hearts?

Has anyone studied the play "Bold Girls" by Rona Munro? If so, do you know the character Deirdre's full name? I'm writing an essay on the play, and I don't know her surname! Thanks.

You see Time Team and they're working in deep pits to excavate Roman ruins and such like. A few years ago I was in Turkey and saw mosaics in fields, just a few inches under the surface (being trampled on by sheep, I should add). So where did all this extra earth come from that covers British archaeology but which apparently doesn't apply in Turkey?

The middle name is different; but not wanting to be deceptive, what should you do on the book jacket? Are there legal implications?

I want to buy the book, but I need to know does the book ONLY have paintings, drawings, and conceptual art? Or are there any CGI realistic photos of the dinosaurs as they appeared in the movie? Thanks.

I love Rand's "Anthem", "Fahrenheit 781" (I know it's a movie), "Norwegian Wood", Anne Rice's "The Vampire Lestat" and everything by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Please suggest a great book (under 400 pages) that's is not a film and is not being made into a movie. Thanks.

Most of what I read show the leaders, Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky were from educated well off families. They never had alot of followers but those they had were ruthless. Most peasants as you might call them fought for the white army who were not communist, infact the white army wanted democracy. Samething today most of those preaching communism do it from universities not the fields and factories.

Was Scheherazade a real person or a fictional character?
And if fictional who wrote it?
And if about a real person who was the real person and when did they live?
Is there an older story told by others, or other tales?
Was Edgar Allen Poe involved in the telling?

When those six men carry you to your final resting place, when your heart stops and all brain activity cease, what can you say you left the world with? What was your mark? Other than bills, kids, and other family members, how will the world know that you were here?

Okay, I'm reading a book that is part of a series following a particular character and I noticed the author likes to use a certain analogy in several of these books. It's a good one, and if you've only read one of his books and haven't heard the phrase before, it makes you nod and smile in comprehension. The thing is, he has used it in at least 2 books and probably more, so I figure some of you out there might be able to pick him (the author), or the series, out. If it seems that people are having trouble, I'll add hints. I'm pretty sure that several of you smart cookies out there will get it on the first try, though. Here goes: "...as (comfortable) as a tweed condom." Sound familiar? You can submit the author and or the 'series' (main character's name). 10 points for the first correct answer.
