I think it got written in 50s-60s-70s. It is a science fiction short story about a man who owns a dog. The man is a heavy drinker. Once he was attempting something dangerous and the dog told him, in some human language, not to do it thus saving his life. However, when the dog went outside it got killed by other dogs. It got killed because dogs do understand and can comminicate with humans and they are at least as intelligent. But they do not want humans to know. They like their lives the way they are - eat, sleep, walk - no responsibilities.

If someone have read it and knows the name and author please let me know.

I dont understand why it is so hard to get a really good book out there. There are plenty of bad ones that get out. Good ones too, but how? I have written six, great books (not just my opinion either) everything from psychological thrillers, "ENTER (at your own risk)" action adventure "It doesnt get dark until midnight", to my autobiogrophy "April was here" which is better than any novel. I even painted the pictures on the covers! I have lived a life that would fill 100 books. So why cant I find someone that would take advantage of that talent? Does anyone know who to go to? Its a legitimate question, because I have lagitimate talent. aprilsworld.com

I'm starting to study philosophy and I'm looking for some good books to learn more about pre-Socratic philosophers, especially Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes. If the books are easier to find (ISBN number and are currently in print) is much appreaciated. I already have a copy of Diogenes Laertius' Lives, but I'm looking for additional sources.
