I think it got written in 50s-60s-70s. It is a science fiction short story about a man who owns a dog. The man is a heavy drinker. Once he was attempting something dangerous and the dog told him, in some human language, not to do it thus saving his life. However, when the dog went outside it got killed by other dogs. It got killed because dogs do understand and can comminicate with humans and they are at least as intelligent. But they do not want humans to know. They like their lives the way they are - eat, sleep, walk - no responsibilities.

If someone have read it and knows the name and author please let me know.

Man, this is crazy. I researched that book based on what you said in your question for a half hour and still couldn't find it. If you could either add details, I would look some more, but if not, if you get an answer, please email me and let me know, I'd love to read it too. I'd also love to see how I missed it in my search. Sorry!
