I want to create a fictional world, and have it set in a feudal setting. Sort of like a fantasy book without the fantasy. Swords, quests and the like, but it follows one man on the quest for vengeance. I have a general plpot, but how do I come up with details, characters and events? What is a good way to start?

we found 2 stick pins in the attic, i have looked for 4 hours at stickpins on the net, i cant find a picture that looks exactly like the 2 i have, i think they may be early 1900's but not sure where to go to see pictures to compare.

I can't stand people like that....they say they are this , but they are
really like THAT. Or, they will say you are a certain way, like it's
