What's your favortie historical instance that supports the phrase 'Necessity is the mother of invention'? If you could just tell me what person(s), to start looking at - that would be great. I am trying to find a good instance or two for a paper for school, and I thought I would ask around.

I read this novel a while ago about a guy who was accused of sleeping with and killing a student. I believe he was a counselor or coach or something at a high school, and I think his name was Sam. His best friend was his lawyer, I think. But I can't think of the name of the book or the author and it's driving me nuts. Anyone??

Hi, I feel I need to expand my mind. Sounds hippy but I just want to read something that will inspire me and raise interesting conversations with my mates and make me think more widely about things. I don't want anything too heavy to start with. Can anyone recommend a good book for this?

Hello, my women's theatre organization at USC is trying to get the rights for Catholic School Girls, but there has been some issues and it is certainly not guarenteed. We don't have time to apply for another show, so what shows could we do that don't require royalties and rights? I know Shakespeare and classical Greek works, but how about Oscar Wilde? Or any other playwrights that are slightly more modern than Shakespeare? Anything would help. Thanks.
