Arts & Humanities - 1 September 2006

I realize that this topic is much more prominent and important in American history than it is in British history, so British history books probably don't say as much about it. But does anyone know of any significant differences between the two accounts?

I can see my neighbours son out in the back garden. He is urinating against the shed. Yesterday he damaged the fence, and I have seen him spraying racist slogans on a wall. Iwent to complain to his father who swore at me and became aggressive. However, I have a shotgun and I think I can probably get the son from the bathroom window. I feel I owe it to humanity to destroy the brute before he does any more damage. But I am worried about geting caught.

Should I shoot the youth to save humanity?

I want to take nice portraits of my son with my film SLR rebel. I keep hearing people saying that they use natural light. I want to buy a plain black and plain white back drop and take photos of him on there, but I always get really yellow looking photos with bad shadows. I have photoshop elements to use for editing but no amount of editing can fix what I did wrong. Can anyone help suggest how to position my son, backdrop, what speed my camera should be at etc. to get that type of look. I have the kit lens (which I know isnt always the best) and I have a 75-300mm. What would you suggest? ANY and ALL help would be great.

I am about to write a book about Middle School. Its a book with Drama, Fights, teasing, and a lot of things Middle School Kids Face. And its all true. I have all my friends with different names so these are real problems with real people.I keep a journal until the end of football season. there is a lot of drama at the games and just during the school year.Like Rumors. Reallationships, people breaking up and just random things. My journal will be turned into a book. I will kind of detail it more and not make it sound like a journal. It will just be a book. Do u think it is good enough?

These things really puzzle me. What was Washington D.C. called prior to the city choosing to be named after the first president and I am unclear why America is named after Amerigo Vespuchi if he did not ever land in North America just as I am curious why we have a Columbus Day for someone who never went any further than the commonwealth of Puerto Rico
